When did it come to the point that being a Christian meant caring about only two issues, abortion and homosexuality?
Ask the nonreligious what being a Christian today means, and based on what we see and read, it's a good bet they will say that followers of Jesus Christ are preoccupied with those two points.
Poverty? Whatever. Homelessness? An afterthought. A widening gap between the have and have-nots? Immaterial. Divorce? The divorce rate of Christians mirrors the national average, so that's no big deal.
The point is that being a Christian should be about more than abortion and homosexuality, and it's high time that those not considered a part of the religious right expose the hypocrisy of our brothers and sisters in Christianity and take back the faith. And those on the left who believe they have a "get out of sin free" card must not be allowed to justify their actions.
Many people believe we are engaged in a holy war. And we are. But it's not with Muslims. The real war -- the silent war -- is being engaged among Christians, and that's what we must set our sights on.

Answer: Apostasy.. would be number one since ALL other issues stem from that..
If Jesus lived today, what do you think would be his top priority?
Teaching people to achieve inner peace. After which, all of the items on your list would automatically cease.
Jesus was not in the business of violently attacking symptoms, based on what I have read. ;)
LOL!!!
Ol’ Roland needs to check my tagline.
Poverty? Whatever. Homelessness? An afterthought. A widening gap between the have and have-nots? Immaterial.
Basically, these are the “social justice” (read: Socialists) who try to say Christ was a Communist too.
I ask them:
“Do you know what Christ really wants? It is one thing - do you know what it is?”
I get many answers “He wants us to help the poor!”
Or “Don’t judge!”
No.
What Christ really wants is for you to admit you are a sinner, and to ask Him to come into your heart.
What Christ really wants is to save you from Hell by His sacrifice.
Tell this to a Liberal, and 99% of the time they want to rip your eyes out.
That is proof they have no idea who Christ is, and have no relationship with Him.

Thank you SkyPilot!!! That covers it all for me, very well posted.
I heard an interesting quote one time about the phrase “What would Jesus do?”
The person said, “In the first place, we can’t really know what Jesus would do...because even when He was on earth He was never doing what His followers “thought” He should be doing.” Example, eating with publicans and sinners, pardoning the woman caught in adultury, etc.
The second point was, “And even if we knew what He would do...what makes us think we would do it.” His disciples certainly failed, and so would we. Even Paul said that the things that he wanted to do he didn’t and the things which he didn’t want to do he did.
Liberals could care less about the poor.
All liberals care about is themselves.
Liberals LOVE the spot light so when they DO something it is FOR PUBLIC adulation and still - it’s all about THEM. A Christian calls NO attention to themselves when helping the poor - LIBERALS REQUIRE ATTENTION for every little thing they do that could be construed as “helping the poor”.
If Jesus walked the earth today, his top priority would be reconciling a reprobate humanity with a holy God.
The apostles did not have inner peace. They had hunger, strife and violence until the end of thier days. The only thing that sustained them was the peace of God that sustained them until they finished their race. Read the writings of Paul describing the inner turmoil he had. He describes himself as being a wretch fighting with conflicting desires and looking forward to his glorified body.
Jesus did not promise inner peace while on earth. He told us that the world would hate us as it hated him and told us that we would have to carry our cross. He did promise that when the world oppressed us and when there was nothing external to us that we could count on, he would provide us peace. It is not a teaching, it is not naval gazing, it is not something we obtain, it is a gift just as salvation is a gift.
BTW I think the temple money changers would have an opinion about Jesus violently attacking symptoms.
Despite man’s technological “success” in the past 200 years or so one thing still remains “There is nothing new under the sun”.
If these godless “leftist” “christians” really want to know what “Jesus would do” read the Bible. That would be the answer to those ignoramuses.
Maybe if Jesus was a Marxist poverty would have been ended 2000 years ago. Instead Jesus had bigger fish to fry than the "plight of poverty" (Something like the ability to join God's kingdom where sin cannot exist but of course these worldly marxist christians have no clue).
"I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you. For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him; but tax collectors and harlots believed him; and when you saw it, you did not afterward relent and believe him." Matthew 21:31
one of the many great things about Jesus was that he wasn't full of self-righteousness.
'harder for a rich man to get to heaven'....
'you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold'...
Woe unto mister Martin for serving Satan so openly. If Christians are not to speak up for those going to the slaughter or heading for damnation because of their degeneracy, then to whom would mister Martin have us speak? Oh, of course, he wants us to shut up and stop being salt and just be sawdust.
Amazing how almost everyone seems to disagree with ole Roland. Must be another ‘mainstream’ representative of CNN.
Let’s see now ...
The Lord Jesus Christ creator of the universe lived in poverty.
Mary didn’t have an abortion
The Lord Jesus Christ live a pure sinless life.
Looking lustfully on woman was the same as adultery.
He said divorce and remarriage was the same a adultery.
Shame on disobeident christians!
Jesus said the Father’s design was one man and one woman for life, not two women or two men.
Jesus controls the wind and the waves and your worried about global warming? LOL!
Jesus cured every sickness, is AIDs not a sickness? Maybe it’s the consequences of a rebellious lifestyle?
Jesus, Lord the the universe, Pure and Sinless, Healer of body and soul, The Passover Lamb shed His blood, gave His body and died for me and you and rose again the third day.
He gives salvation to all who trust in Him regardless of wealth, status, age, mental capacity, race, wether man or woman, jew or gentile.
Amen, even so come Lord Jesus!
What would Jesus really do?
follow HIM!!!
Jesus knew the poor would always be among us.......His WORD says it, I guess this clown didn’t read that part of the bible.
“Jesus knew the poor would always be among us.”
What I found most telling was their poll didn’t even come close to what the Bible says Jesus did or would do when he returns.
We already know the dems response to homelessness and poverty.
Only the wealthy, upper class (married, not married, homosexual, polygamist) should be allowed to raise children. All children of others should be aborted. End of problem!
Why would a Christian worry about an insignificant thing like the murder of a few million humans a year, when they should be getting there knickers in knots over the income gap?
