I understand your point, but that doesn't excuse us from modeling our lives after Jesus and trying to live as He lived on earth, even if we don't succeed. Just how far is that supposed to go? Because he eventually went to the cross and atoned for our sins. I don't think we can do that kind of thing. We should be willing to rather die than believe heresy. I know many who have given up all only to also give up the truth. (E.g. frankly, Mother Teresa, in her own words, didn't seem too worried about Hindus etc. accepting the truth of Christ which IMO makes all her works for naught.)
