Porn-Swapping Japanese Sailors Leak Missile Secrets
Spiegel Online ^

Three sailors in Japan have been charged with spilling military secrets in a smut-swapping scandal that could reach up the navy's chain of command. The secrets involve an American ship-based missile shield.

Pornography may be a sin, but when did anyone say it was a threat to national security? Three Japanese sailors have swapped military secrets along with smutty images, according to charges pressed last week by Japanese police. The scandal involves lower-ranking men but could reach higher into the navy's chain of command, and it's especially embarrassing for Tokyo because the leak has compromised an American-designed anti-missile system.

A Japanese paper reported that a 33-year-old petty officer -- married to a Chinese woman -- brought home a CD-ROM containing not just pornographic images but also classified data about the Aegis missile system. Aegis is a ship-based network developed by Americans which Japan has started to use for its own regional defense.

The petty officer claims he didn't know he'd copied sensitive data along with his porn. According to the paper Yomiuri Shimbun, the files were discovered on a hard disk that police seized from the petty officer's home in January. At least two other petty officers had copied the same data, and their computers, writes the paper, "contained a large collection of obscene images."

The worst part of this is that it was probably terrible Japanese “anime” porn.

Unlike US porn-in-the-woods, Japanese porn-among-the-cherry-trees was less available but more sought after, leaving the next generation of sex-crazed Japanese teens to improvise.

"What a Freudian headline."

Yes, it does call quite the image to mind.

Welp, guess it's time to scrap the Aegis combat system and start all over again, as I'm sure China's friends (Russia, Iran, etc.) are attempting to reverse engineer our missile system as we speak.

"a 33-year-old petty officer -- married to a Chinese woman"

Precisely.

The key connection. The vector to focus on in investigation.

Likely that the excuse "it was a mistake" ...is a rather thin pretext. The jihadists have been trained by the Chi-Comms also to bury their secrets within porn. This would not be a simple coincidence.

This is likely where...and also how and why... the information was compromised.

The Chinese communist espionage service is especially aggressive at using women agents for their infiltration operations. Highly skilled at sexually aggressive techniques...

Hence we see the compromise of our own FBI Counter Intel operations, and such personages as Preston Bush...

As revolting as it is...these sad sacks may have to be offered some limited immunity to discover the scope of the breach...and what reactions we necessarily have to take to protect our ships...and our nation from the missiles we at last had a defense against...

It may not be quite that bad. Unfortunately, it may well necessitate serious upgrades to the system to keep ahead of possible countermeasures...focussing on system weak-links....that the Chi-Comms may now be able to deploy...

Actually it is a little hard to believe. "Oh, gosh, I was copying some porn from my government computer and I accidentally downloaded a tech manual too." What's wrong with that picture?

I know a number of people still in the JMSDF who are notable for a lack of sense of humor about this sort of thing. Aegis is sitting between the home islands and North Koreans. These young fellers are the unhappiest people in Japan right about now.

Well, I invite them to try that technique on me! I won’t tell them a thing.

LOL! Just mention their approach...it Never fails to get a "rise" out of some FReepers.

Of course, you probably DON'T have any militarily vital / useful information for them steal!

And unfortunately for us, this issue is deadly serious...and the U.S. is losing its advantages because the Chi-Comms are at war...and know it. Meanwhile... our intelligentsia, our politicians...our titans of commerce, and even our military to too great a degree...don't know it, or at least have not internalized the gravity of this.

I know it is. My job involves protecting against that stuff. The chicoms are bad news.
