IT WAS a fitting image of the 14 wimps and a sob sister arriving back in the United Kingdom yesterday: skulking away with pink goody bags in hand.
The color was no accident - although yellow would've been more appropriate.

These effete "armchair generals" at the NY Post are way out of line here. They have no idea what all of the facts surrounding this situation were, and I don't remember them offering the same silly criticism of the U.S. and its military personnel back in 2001 when those E-3 crew members were "captured" by the Chinese in the Hainan Island incident and held for 10 days.
Maybe that information was made public after the event became less publicized or later when Americans were less sensitized to it. I certainly, never heard that crew destroyed equipment. Last I heard was that it was in tact.
“There’s sore decline in Adam’s line if this be spawn of Earth.”
You left off the sarcasm tag. If it weren't for the heroic efforts [and incredible strength] of the pilot, a former Nebraska lineman, the damaged plane would have crashed killing all aboard.
You have a point. If the Marines aren’t permitted to fight back then it is hard to expect them to be imbued with the spirit of resistance when they are taken captive.
I am aggravated by arm-chair warriors as well. However, the crew of the E-3 did not defame the US government on TV with smiles on their faces.
Your assertion that our servicemen "handed" the plane over is wrong, and I would say you owe an apology to our men.
The EP-3E had been flying over "Exclusive Economic Zone" waters of communist China, about 70 miles (110 km) away from the island of Hainan, when the craft was intercepted by several CHICOM J-8IIM fighters. What resulted was a collision between the wing of the EP-3E and one of the CHICOM J-8s, which caused the death of the J-8's pilot Wang Wei and forced the EP-3E to make an emergency landing on Hainan.

But, then along came 911 and bailed President Bush out from having to take any retaliatory action against the communist Chinese, after they kidnapped the crew and dismantled the plane with complete impugnity. They completely got away with it, apparently. All is now forgotten.
Precisely what I was thinking.
I can't imagine that the commander of my company would behave the way that this British captain did.
They might have implied that her little daughter might be kidnapped and raped. I’m sure that they have contacts in England who could arrange for this.
For myself, the threat of harming a loved one is far more terrifying than any threat to my own personal well being.
The Royal Marine lieutenant just interviewed on TV was asked what kind of training they get regarding resisting if they are captured. he replied that they get “lectures.” WTF?? Don’t the Brits have an equivalent to the SERE School my shipmates and I went through on the way to Vietnam? Lectures? Give me a break.
This is an idiotic comment. An EP-3 is slow and defenseless.
I probably heard more about it than was released to the general public. I was a contractor for the Navy and was working on some of the training for the C4I systems (communications, command, control, computers, and intelligence) at the time of the incident.
“Theyre our allies and Im happy theyre safe. That said, very troubling episode. I certainly couldnt treat them as returning heroes.”
You will read the stories over the next several months how the British government mistreated them. Watch and see.
IMHO, if I were a marine, my enemy was two feet in front of me, I had no handcuffs on, I was on camera in front of the entire Muslim world, and I knew that killing this person would change the face of the world, I would have strangled the bastard.
This was a no-brainer for a marine. You give your life for your country. He would have given his life for humanity.

Thank goodness our military still has integrity and courage. If I lived in England, I would be ashamed and fearful.
I saw the press conference, disturbing to say the least.
.
“ We were not prepared for combat” ???? WTF
Except that footage would NEVER get aired on state controlled TV.
We can only hope that the infection from Europe which has now obviously spread to once proud Britain, is not endemic in the United States.
I hope this...but the symptoms of disease are everywhere....a germ by any other name is a leftist...and a leftist by any other name is a democrat. And half the country is both.
Is the bravery of the American POW’s held in the cages of North Vietnam for YEARS (not two weeks) gone forever? Tortured and threatened with death they made an American flag out of threads from the rags they wore so they could salute it (under threat of death if found) every morning. You can see this flag at the Nixon Presidential library.
As for the female British hostage...she joined the military...not the typing pool...if she was threatened with rape her comrades do not owe her any more than each of the males is entitled to.
IT WAS a fitting image of the 14 wimps and a sob sister arriving back in the United Kingdom yesterday.
I don’t understand, I thought it was 15 girls.
“Except that footage would NEVER get aired on state controlled TV.”
You are right. But how will they explain it? They would have to kill the hostages. What are they going to say? The coward british marine killed our dear leader? Oh, the dear leader who kidnapped them in the first place?
I believe the poster who seemingly doesn't know this or else does and doesn't care, is a DU moron.
