Evangelicals might not cotton to Mormon theology but they find plenty to admire about Mormons' commitment to traditional values and family.

could a big factor be that mormons stay married because half of every mormon marriage - the woman - is depending on her husband to choose to call her name so that she will be resurrected someday? That would tend to keep you from making him mad. Add community pressure, which is great.
LDS Apostle Erastus Snow preached the following on Sunday, Oct. 4, 1857:
Do the women, when they pray, remember their husbands?... Do you uphold your husband before God as your lord? “What!my husband to be my lord?” I ask, Can you get into the celestial kingdom without him? Have any of you been there? You will remember that you never got into the celestial kingdom [during the temple ceremony] without the aid of your husband. If you did, it was because your husband was away, and some one had to act proxy for him. No woman will get into the celestial kingdom, except her husband receives her, if she is worthy to have a husband; and if not, somebody will receive her as a servant. (Journal of Discourses, vol. 5, p. 291)
never-the-less, staying married is a very good thing and mitt and his wife have done well in this.

It would seem that the moral descendants of those who burned down Mormon towns and cities, tarred and feathered their men, forced Mormons from their lands and homes at gunpoint, murdered many men, women and children and ultimately issued an extermination order in Missouri to prevent Mormons from ever living there again are longing for the good old days.

Never in a million years would I pull a lever for Slick Mitt. He is phony. Pure 100% snake oil. Lifelong Hunter, Card carrying NRA member (Aug ‘06).
One wife is the norm on this planet, not something to get a major award for.

Hi, Utah Girl! Thanks for posting this great article. As of now, Mr. Romney is my choice. Take care. :-)

This is all silly. Anyone’s religious beliefs appear ridiculous to anyone else that doesn’t subscribe. For example Buddhists would find the belief that a person could live a life of unmitigated evil but be saved at the last minute on his deathbed by accepting Christ a most stupid idea. Or that a person who lived a decent life but never heard the word of god would burn in eternal torment would be an equally ridiculous proposition. From that viewpoint any Christian or Moslem belief system is crackers. Buddhists generally believe that a person lives lifetime after lifetime until they achieve their form of salvation.
So, one should show a little restraint before calling other’s religious beliefs “crazy”. It’s a pot vs kettle thing. Plenty of Lutherans attend Church, tithe and then beat their children.
The Mormons don’t bother me. I much prefer the society we have in Utah, for all it’s faults, to what I found in LA or Frisco.

There's something about Mormons the rest of us ought to pay attention to: Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do much better than almost any other faith group at sustaining a marriage culture -- and they do this while participating fully and successfully in modern life They do. How, I'm not sure. While the rest of us are forming divorce recovery classes and adult singles groups the Mormons don't seem to have this problem.
