Latest New Hampshire telephone poll shows Romney's support nearly doubles to 25% to tie McCain; Giuliani trails at 19%
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has rocketed to the top of the field of contenders for the New Hampshire Republican presidential primary crown, running dead even with Arizona Sen. John McCain at 25% each, a new Zogby International telephone poll shows. With Romney’s ascension, the GOP presidential race looks just like the Democratic contest – a three–way battle!
While McCain has held mostly steady at the top of the Republican field in New Hampshire, losing just one point since January, Romney has made the big move up from 13% two months ago. Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York who is the toast of Republican primary voters nationally, finds himself in third place in the Granite State at 19% support, falling slightly from 20% in January to 19% this week.
Fred Thompson, the actor and former senator from Tennessee won 6% support in this latest survey of 502 likely New Hampshire Republican primary voters, which was conducted April 2-3, 2007, and contains a margin of error of +/- 4.5 percentage points.
Pollster John Zogby: “Score this as a big week for Mitt Romney. These poll numbers, together with the small increase in Iowa and a huge fund–raising effort, puts him into the top tier and makes him a major player in the race for the GOP nomination. John McCain’s support stays steady and makes him a contender and gives him a boost in an otherwise lackluster week. Move over, Rudy. You’ve got a real race on your hands!”
Romney has a slight edge over McCain among men – 27% support Romney while 25% favor McCain. Giuliani gets 19% support among men. McCain wins support from 25% of women, followed by Romney (23%) and Giuliani (18%).
McCain is the favored candidate among younger respondents – nearly half (48%) of those 18-29 said they would vote for the former war hero–turned senator. There is also strong support for Romney among this age group, as 37% said they would support the former Massachusetts governor. Giuliani gets the most support from those age 30 to 49 at (28%) and leads the field over all other candidates among this age group.
Asked about the strength of support for their candidate, McCain shows a slight edge over the other top candidates – 88% of McCain supporters said their backing was strong, compared to 86% of Romney supporters and 85% of those supporting Giuliani.

More than half of respondents (54%) said they were more likely to vote for a candidate who is generally more conservative, while 37% said they would favor a more moderate candidate. Romney is the top choice of those who identify themselves as “conservative” and “very conservative”.
The vast majority respondents (85%) said they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who stands up for what they believe in, regardless if they can win the general election. Younger respondents (age 18 to 29) were more likely than older respondents to favor a candidate who will stand by his or her beliefs – 96% in this age group feel this way, compared to 79% of those age 65 and older. Women (89%) are also more likely than men (82%) to say they would vote for the candidate who puts their beliefs first. Overall, 11% said they would rather have a candidate who can win.

This poll conducted Apr 2-3 reflects favorable Romney publicity in all media after 1Q fundraising results were released on Monday. Just goes to show what a little favorable publicity will do.
Romney gave an excellent televised interview with Sean Hannity yesterday in which he ripped into Pelosi. I see Newsmax jumped on that statement and made it a story today.
Romney also made an appearance on the Today show earlier in the week. So far he hasn’t been asked to speak on “The View” with Ms Rosie O”donnell so far as I know. /sarc ;)

For the most part, I agree with you. Personally, I think Duncan Hunter is a great conservative but will have a very hard time winning. However, I'm supporting him right now in the hope that if enough people vote what they believe, he will move forward. I never hear substantive criticism of him. I only hear the "he can't win" excuse.
Another great conservative candidate is Jim Gilmore of Virginia. He has a better chance of winning his state than Duncan Hunter does, and his executive experience looks good. I just don't know whether he's going to start a campaign in time to build support and go anywhere. He would be an ideal vice-presidential candidate for any of them. He has executive experience as a governor. He has military experience in Army intelligence.
Louisiana has its primary on February 9. If we get through February 5 super-primaries with more than one candidate still in the race, I'll have to take a hard look at my choices. If Mitt Romney is my last chance to keep McCain or Giuliani from getting the nomination, i'll gladly vote for him. I'm having a hard time reading him, and he may end up being a very good president.

The person who posted that conservatives will not vote for someone other than Duncan Hunter is just an idiot. I'm supporting Duncan Hunter at this point, but I would be glad to support several of the other candidates. I won't support Rudy Giuliani in any way. I'd likely vote for John McCain, but I wouldn't do anything else. Otherwise, I can be pretty happy with most of the others. I like Mitt Romney's executive experience in business and as governor over Fred Thompson's experience as a senator and actor. On the other hand, Fred Thompson has a better voting record on the issues. If Mr. Hunter has left the race when the primary comes to my state, whether I vote for Mr. Thompson or Mr. Romney is a toss-up.

If your goal is to win the general election, you'd be wise not to make derisive posts about other candidates and their supporters. Rather than attacking Duncan Hunter and his supporters, you should either ignore him or just make substantive comments about things you do or don't like about where he stands on the issues. When you put people down for supporting another candidate, you only drive a wedge between them and your candidate.

This doctrine is so misunderstood and pounced on by some that it's amazing. It's all about overcoming the world and sharing in the many mansions of the Father. You are certainly entitled to bash all you want, I won't stop you, but you can't expect to get free pass when you do.

In fact, not only did Joseph claim that he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, but also John the Baptist, Peter, James, John, Moses, Elijah (mentioned above), and others. The Church is about the restitution of all things, with all the priesthood keys that God has ever bestowed upon man, being given to man again.
They belong to His church, as do the administering of angels, miracles, faith, repentance, baptism and all the other things that always existed in His church.
These are principles that won't be accepted by all, but to those with ears to hear, and the desire to find out truths by the Holy Ghost, they are here.

I think I’ll just mosey over to the Mormon temple and hang around and find out what you guys truly believe. Oh that’s right, there are too many secret rituals and Masonic rites going on to allow non-Mormons in. And I guarantee no Christian religious sect believes your subterfuge of trying to say mankind will be in any way equivalent to Gods in the afterlife, that’s typical false prophet Mormon subterfuge. No one interprets Joint heirs as us being at all Christ equivalent like you do, otherwise we’d by definition become polytheistic ancestor worshipers who had to baptize the dead (something you know Christians don’t do). Oh yeah, I’m convinced now. The rock crystal gazer and Masonic occultist Joseph Smith saw God, Jesus, John the Baptist, Peter, James, John, Moses, and Elijah as well as being the only one to see the golden tablets of Moroni (which magically disappear).
