Tancredo's Reponse to Hugh Hewitt
Tancredo for a Secure America ^ | 4-4-07 | Mike Tate

Posted on 04/04/2007 9:38:15 PM PDT by Tarantulas

Of over 25 radio programs that Congressman Tancredo was on yesterday, it was The Hugh Hewitt Show that had the chance to illuminate an issue that millions of Americans support us on, but instead he chose to educate Tancredo about the merits of supporting an illegal alien amnesty bill.

After talking with Tancredo he told me his response to Hewitt's show: "Why would we come back on his show? I know it makes good radio to be engaged in an hour for a yelling match with him, but it is not a good use of our time. We will not come back on the program."

Hugh Hewitt is a genuine conservative, and does much to promote conservative candidates and causes.

I agree with Hugh that Tancredo is a single issue sideshow barker, and given the current electoral climate, would only succeed in electing Hillary Rodham.

The border is a big issue; but a more important issue is the Supreme Court; and, as president a Marxist Hillary would have her way with the upcoming SCOTUS appointments. Our very Constitution would be homogenized.

So, for want of strict border policies, some here would wager every conservative ideal and traditional value (including strict border policies) in a fool's bet.

Hewitt a fake? Nope. He just has the ability to see the big picture. Hopefully, the fine Tancredo fans here will see the dire risks of chaining themselves to a single issue strategy by November, 2008.

Hugh, is that you?

I think Hugh was too hard on Tancredo. He needs to save some of that for the libs.

I disagree.

Tancredo demonstrated a strategically fatal intransigence, and refused to own up to it. That’s Hewitt’s point. He called it bad ‘strategery’ and he was right.

Sure, when you play, you risk. Tancredo lost, but he could have used better judgement.

What would you rather have, a really terrible bill or a 3/4 acceptable bill? All or nothing didn’t work and pointing that out isn’t as nefarious as you guys want to make it out to be.

Rather than being arrogant, I thought Hewitt kept his cool admirably when faced with so many who didn’t address the point but simply badmouthed on and on.

It was a matter of reality trumping the wish. You go with the concrete, the tangible. Hewitt was right. Nex

This guy sure isn't impressing me with his leadership. He can't stand up to Hugh Hewitt, how's he going to stand up to Speaker Pelosi, Al Qaeda, etc.?

Hee Hee.

People really forget that there are actually conservatives who want to implement conservatism instead of feeling good about being more-conservative-than-thou.

Well, it could mean a few things: 1. That our vote does not count, so why bother voting. 2. The elites have chosen their candidate(s), so shut up, deal with it & vote like we tell you to vote. After all, you don’t want to win. 3. Every election is rigged. etc. etc. etc.

"You cannot have a secure country with open borders."

Actually, you can't have a country at all without borders. Right now, we have no southern border. Nor do we have control of who is in our country and what they do when they are here.

The only people who don’t feel like Tom Tancredo on this issue are WSJ Republicans or liberals.

That is why the whole “WOT” has lost its steam and dems are getting away with traitorous actions...20 million illegals bleeding across our borders but 150,000 troops in Iraq...it’s the 800 lb gorilla in the lving room...it is hard to deny....our pols have no will or desire to address it...at least Tancredo pushes the issue...name another candidate that even mentions it without glossing over the subject....everday americans see this silliness and are feel betrayed.

Further proof of having no boarders & no control of who is in our country, is last years massive illegal alien protests
in cities all over America. We had hundreds of thousands, possible millions even, illegal foreigners with allegiance’s to their native homelands, burning Our Flag “Old Glory” & raising their own flags. In our streets shutting down our cities, MAKING DEMANDS!!!

Hewitt is a hyper-partisan. I cannot listen to him much anymore either.

He wrote the book ‘Painting the map Red’ on the eve of the ‘06 election. Yeah right. Every time I pick up a newspaper it seems more like that ‘Red’ is the blood of more Americans, victims of a government that just plain does not care. When someone comes along that does care, the like of Hewitt (and Medved) go on the attack. It’s disgusting.

We are supposed to excuse the GOPs betrayal of he 1986 Amnesty deal and turn a blind eye to the willful ignoring of US Law. The immigration ‘debate’ is one huge insult the the average American’s common sense.

Tom Tancredo To Hewitt: “No Mas, No Mas”
Posted by Hugh Hewitt | 6:06 PM

http://hughhewitt.townhall.com/g/884922c3-c1f6-43ad-88b9-60cf5492889f

From Tom Tancredo’s presidential campaign “official” website:

Of over 25 radio programs that Congressman Tancredo was on yesterday, it was The Hugh Hewitt Show that had the chance to illuminate an issue that millions of Americans support us on, but instead he chose to educate Tancredo about the merits of supporting an illegal alien amnesty bill.

After talking with Tancredo he told me his response to Hewitt’s show: “Why would we come back on his show? I know it makes good radio to be engaged in an hour for a yelling match with him, but it is not a good use of our time. We will not come back on the program.”

I have no way of knowing if Tom said this, or if this is in fact Tom’s response to Monday’s interview. The bolded statement is a blatant lie, however, and the transcript is here to prove it. If uncorrected, it will speak volumes about the honesty of the campaign.

I am hearing that some folks will be entering Colorado’s 6th District GOP primary, and that Tom’s protest campaign could well cost him his very safe seat. If he’s serious, he should do what Congressman Hunter has done: Renounce his seat and let the district pick a successor rather than keep a chair warm for him.
