Military heroism, that you will not read about in MSM.

He died while proving air support for ground troops.
A Hero in my book.

Honor, selflessness, something many in our current day society do not understand. The “what’s in it for me” mantra controls the motivations of way too many members of our society.

He just about had to have known that he was starting his strafing pass far too low and that he wouldn’t be coming back. And then decided to do it anyway.

Truly a hero. This guy should be mentioned in every school classroom tomorrow morning as an example of greatness. For some reason I doubt it will happen.

These (our) pilots do some amazing things. We’ve had B1’s (a huge magnificent bird) out of ordinance come down out of the sky (at night) in Stan well below their hard decks.....we’re talking 100 or so meters above the ground and pop their AB to shock & scare the hell out of the enemy.....in support of guys on the ground...

Some still revere heroism.

Major Gilbert’s heroism should live for generations. Men like him make me feel very humble and grateful. Thank you KL for posting this.

If the MSM could actually get the way it really is with these military men. What a Hero....as John Mills said war is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things....[people of the left are the ugliest of things]

‘people of the left’ are the ugliest things. How about hippie-mommas from Berkeley? hahaha. (having lived there...).

Definitely a hero but were we using the wrong type of aircraft for the situation? Is that the future role for the F-22? Or should we be building more warthogs?
