Conservative Voters, It's Time to Give In to Your Inner Rebel
The Politico ^

In life, there are times to make a safe choice. Should you go to the gym in the morning or pour yourself a bowl of Miller Lite Cheerios? Should you take the car rental insurance or chance it? Decisions, decisions.
Similarly tough choices inevitably seep into our politics. For Republican voters, it has been: Should you vote for Ross Perot or Pat Buchanan, or go with the Republican standard-bearer? (You probably made the "adult" decision, sucked it up and punched your ticket for George H.W. Bush and Bob Dole, even if they were squishy Republicans who were dull as can be.)
For 2008, the safe thing means backing one of the "big three" Republicans, Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney or former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Here's the problem with always doing the safe thing: Voting is supposed to be a bit rebellious. There are times to throw caution to the wind and go for what you really want.

I am not an endorser of Gingrich (right now I am supporting Ron Paul). I just thought the article was interesting and insightful

Voted for Paul in ‘88 - never again. Hunter should be the conservative’s guy this year.

This reply is not a statement on any candidate. Rebellion my back side! Rebellion gave us President bill klintoon and Speaker nancy peloser. We had better vote with conviction, Conservative values and we had better vote to win... or our Nation loses and we lose the War on Terror... the end result being an eventual sharia Nation!

Have you read Tom Delay’s book? I have not finished it yet, but I would think he would not support Newt either. But I don’t consider Paul a pubbie or a conservative - so not him for sure!

Sorry, I can’t vote for McCain. He’s a Dem in Rino clothing.

Well, it's healthy for a government to be a little afraid of its citizenry.
Let's hear it for rebellion! Refuse to vote for the status quo.

There's nothing "safe" about voting for any of the above, unless your only definition of safe is having a president with an (R) after his name. For me, that's just not enough.

Funny...Lewis doesn’t suggest that Dems who back Obama vote their convictions and refuse to vote for Hillary, should she win the nomination. One suspects he is a Dem shill, encouraging the Republicans to split their vote to give the presidency to the Democrats. It has been done before, of course, when Ross “The Loon” Perot gave us the eight disasterous Clinton years.

The Politico was created to get a democrat elected in 08. Keep that in mind when you read anything they write.

Gingrich supports william jefferson, stating that the searching of his office in the house was illegal. gingrich lost not only my vote, but my respect. Thompson / DeLay in ‘08.

I’m hoping for either a Fred Thompson/Duncan Hunter Presidential ticket or a Duncan Hunter/Fred Thompson Presidential ticket among many other ‘08 possibilities.
To: Bahbah
Yep. Jim Vandenhei is in charge of it.

RINOs are bigger, harder to get rid of, and do more damage.

I’ve been watching them. They are pretty smart. They have been doing some pieces that could be considered balanced. They have a wealth of contacts to get information from so they get to be cutting edge. I have never seen a start-up get such instant credibility and exposure.
I think they are going to be pretty dangerous.

The best way to keep people from a rebellion is to eliminate that which might cause one.

The status quo is what makes the world go round... Rebellion is typically a ‘labor/liberal’ take. They have always thought of themselves and represented themselves as the alternative to the ‘status quo’ and an entire flood of pernicious and socially costly ‘isms’ have resulted. Many of these ‘isms’ die very hard and whole generations are swallowed up in retrieving lost ground. Be careful. Right not, the only ‘rebellion’ going is the one most reasonable Americans see as a ‘return’ to the necessity for a strong national defense.
