Well, some of those female volleyball players are pretty hot, but I can't see killing a fella over it.

If what I just wrote made you sad or angry,
it was probably just a joke.

Since Greek wrestlers wrestle in the nude, do Greek volleyballers volleyball in the nude?

Greek athletics just haven’t been the same since the advent of clothes.

Witnesses say about 300 fans fought with clubs, knives and stones.

Go tell the Spikers, volleyball fan passing by, that here obedient to their laws we lie.

While American violence over sports is not unknown (the 1984 Detroit Tigers' World Series win, college fans who burn couches and overturn dumpsters when their teams win and when they lose), I am constantly surprised how much real violence there is abroad, particularly in Europe, over sports. Soccer hooliganism is the most famous but hardly the only example.

Sounds like the NBA’s All-Star weekend.

I don’t think anyone died, though.

Not exactly Marathon or Thermopylae but I guess it’s a start.

Womens’ volleyball: At last, something even less relevant than the WNBA.

I was confused by the title. I thought that somewhere in Massachusets some people—possibly gay—started a fight while playing a new form of volleyball, perhaps using olive oil and uzzo for sunscreen.

What amazes me is that anyone could watch women’s volleyball and only be interested in fighting...

“...Olympiakos Piraeus and Panathinaikos in the Peania area...”

A litle background (I worked in Greece 4 years): These are hard core rivalies-—in soccer and all sports. Panathinaikos is the Athens team and the Olympiakos is the Piraeus team.

The “Peania” is a lower working class area-—their lives revolve around soccer mainly and fans will erupt in this kind of idiocy at times...like stupid fans everywhere.(this is a generalization of course)
