An illegal alien charged in connection with an acdcident that claimed the lives of two teenage girls was convicted of DUI two months ago in Chesapeake.

The accident occurred late Friday night when Alfredo Ramos crashed into the back of a vehicle at a red light. The rear-ending killed teenagers Allison Kuhnhardt and Tessa Tranchant.

22-year-old Alfredo Ramos was convicted in February on DUI charges from November 13, 2006.

The arresting officer commented in his report that Ramos "almost ran him down".

He was given a 90 day suspended sentence, fined $250, had his drivers' license suspended, and he ordered to participate in ASAP, an alcohol awareness program.

Court documents also revealed that Ramos didn' t actually have a valid driver's license (he was caught with a fake one), had paid a Florida company $200 dollars for a "Mexican ID", and he blew a .14 BAC - almost twice the legal limit.

None of this would have happened if we only permitted undocumented workers to obtain valid US driver's licenses. The fear and trepidation of being undocumented in a strange land drove this unfortunate man to drink.

Wait for it.

...but I am surprised to find out that I, unlike this guy, actually was driving with a legal licence as a legal VA resident and citizen

....as a legal resident and citizen...you are not entitled to the benefits of being an illegal immigrant.

I guess that showed him! Then again, I believe the mutt was very much alcohol aware.

'sup with that Florida firm that sold the ID? Let us know and we'll raise holy heck down here.

Maybe our political “leaders” can explain to the parents of these two kids: why we really need all the Mexican Criminals in this country.

Maybe the family of the victims should “suspend” this scumbag’s right to breathe, then express their displeasure with the authorities responsible for this illegal alien still being in this country...

Perhaps their parents will join the lawsuit against homeland security, et al that a couple other parents of dead children have filed.

You know, I heard of one mom doing just that. Her child was also killed by an illegal drunk. He killed her young daughter. It was quite awhile ago, heard it on John and Ken a radio program out here in So Cal.

Found it. The old news articles don’t mention the mom suing, but her daughter was killed in Oct 2006 by a 22 year old illegal. There was also a story about an illegal with three DUI’s killing some people in a pile up around the same time. Did a search on John and Ken shows site, KFI.

Hopefully some GOOD lawyer will take a bunch of these and make a real public class action suit out of it.

[snip]What would that May 1st look like without illegal immigration? There would be no one to smuggle across our southern border the heroin, marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamines that plague the United States, reducing the U.S. supply of meth that day by 80%. The lives of 12 U.S. citizens would be saved who otherwise die a violent death at the hands of murderous illegal aliens each day. Another 13 Americans would survive who are otherwise killed each day by uninsured drunk driving illegals. Our hospital emergency rooms would not be flooded with everything from gunshot wounds, to anchor babies, to imported diseases to hangnails, giving American citizens the day off from standing in line behind illegals. Eight American children would not suffer the horror as a victim of a sex crime.

UPDATE: The suspect in a DUI suspect that claimed the lives of two inseperable friends was arraigned Monday morning.

Alfredo Ramos, 22, has been charged with two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter and is being held at the Virginia Beach City Jail with no bond.

In court, Ramos admitted that he is in the country illegally, and was working at a Mexican restaurant in Virginia Beach.

Ramos, who speaks no English, remains in jail with no bond.

The accident happened when Ramos, driving a 1998 Mitsubishi, was traveling west bound at a high speed and slammed into the back of the other vehicle.

Both occupants of the other car, which was at a standstill at a traffic light, were pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver was Allison E. Kuhnhardt, 17, and her passenger was Tessa C. Tranchant, 16.

This is such a tragedy.

The families should go after the employers as well as Homeland Security.

The Mexican restaurant’s cheap labor has cost two American families dearly.

The clear legislative response to this trashed, previously convicted illegal alien is harsher penalties for first arrest, two beer social drinkers and a graduated driver licensing program to prevent teenagers from having other teens in their car.

Tessa Tranchant, 16, left, and Allison Kunhardt, 17, were killed late Friday in a crash on Virginia Beach Boulevard.

Alfredo Ramos, charged with manslaughter in the deaths of Allison Kunhardt, 17, and Tessa Tranchant, 16, was convicted this year of DUI in Chesapeake and of public intoxication in Virginia Beach.

Ramos, who admitted in court Monday that he is in the country illegally, also was convicted in Chesapeake last year of public drunkenness.

Two 2007 Chesapeake convictions - a seat-belt violation and identity theft - appear not to be alcohol-related.

His 25-year-old brother, who lives in Norfolk, also is here illegally and asked not to be identified because of his immigration status.

Ramos, who was born in Mexico of Guatemalan parents, has been in the United States for about seven years.

Most recently, Ramos was employed as a waiter at Mi Casita, a popular Mexican restaurant on Bonney Road in Virginia Beach.

Police said speed and alcohol were factors in Friday’s crash, which occurred at Kings Grant Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard.

law-enforcement officials in Chesapeake never informed Immigration and Customs Enforcement about Ramos' residence status in the U.S. This contrasts with Virginia Beach, whose authorities notified ICE immediately after Ramos was arrested.

Ramos, who speaks no English, remains in jail with no bond.
