A Few of FR's Finest....04-02, 03-07 ....Military Tribute

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I could no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I have been including them here as I receive enough to make another collage.
I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why we've created a place for just that. This is a friendly room in JimRob's house where FReeper FRiends can gather every day and just say hello if that's all they want to do.
We have featured different FReepers, with a little background information on who they are and what makes them who they are, along with a few photos you might not have seen on other threads; sometimes others write an essay for us to post as the feature for the day; sometimes our presentation is a human interest story found elsewhere that you might not have read; sometimes special holiday threads; but whatever the topic of the day, it is always with FR's Finest in mind and that is YOU!
Every Monday we post the photos of FR's Military Personnel that I have collected and put into groups; these will be available to view through a link the remainder of the week - every day just a click away. :)   If you would like to add a photo of yourself or a loved one in the military, past or present, please let me know; I will hold it until I have enough for a new group.
Thank you, and please have fun with us...every day!

I received this from Dolly. We miss you Dolly and hope your computer is working soon.

Hi Finest FRiends..

Still missing you but no resolution of the computer situation. Seem to have isolated the problem however. The ISP (Tme Warner) is NOT getting a reading from my computer of the computer number.. I am to get a new modem shortly & see if that helps..

Had a bittersweet visit with my Uncle in NY yesterday. He & the three children were visibly touched by the situation & there is a big void when a very precious person is no longer there.

Have a good Lord's Day tomorrow all. & if perchance the new modem "works".. I will be with you ... Movie/dinner date tonight however..

Hugs from Dolly! (and Cali is still not only "hanging in" but doing exceptionally well.. actually walking again & eating well.. PTL on that one) ~ Dolly

Good afternoon. Long time since I have written. Been busy. Thanks for the post. Hope folks enjoy it. Spring is here. We have lots of baby calves on the ground. Planting another 60 acres of Tifton 85 bermuda grass for bailing. We have been working in the yard.....spring fever every years. Our amaryllis are begining to bloom. They are really nice. I guess winter is gone.

It is so good to see you again. I figured with spring here that you would be really busy. All those new calves to get to work with. Do you raise them for beef?

I don't have amaryllis but I have irises that are blooming like crazy!

Yes, I get nice comments all the time on your wonderful tunes. I have been playing "That Sweet Bluebonnet Day" a lot because of it being bluebonnet season. It's a wonderful song.

Are you any closer to getting the new CD finished? You know I still want one when you do!

Take care, and God bless you and your family. Is your daughter enjoying A&M? (Whoop!!)

Thank you - I’m glad you like the new look. Rus, I asked the mod to change the date to include both today and Tuesday - you might want to put both dates there next week when you post the thread.

Your pledge is so pretty, and I’m happy you made it home safely with your new truck. Hope you get lots and lots of use out of it!

God Bless our Troops! Thank you for keeping us safe!

Computer problems are so aggravating...
DollyCali is having problems too.

We have 3 computers in this house now so at least I can get to FR. I would just have to push one of my kids out of the way.

My name is SSgt Noumi S.J. USMC. I recently left for Iraq on Feb 15th 2007 for a 7 month tour, my wife (usmcwife6869) is always telling how this sight is so pro-military and after browsing through your comments and posting I would have to say I have finnally found somewhere where a military person is not belittled or attacked, so I thank you all. I would love to post a photo, could someone tell me how?

Speak Up!

READ: 2 Kings 5:1-3, 9-14

If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy. —2 Kings 5:3

If you’re like most people, you think that when God does something important, He uses important people to get it done—people like John Stott, Billy Graham, or Joni Eareckson Tada. The rest of us just fill space until Jesus comes. But that’s not true.

Most often in Scripture, we see that God uses ordinary folk to get things done. Just take a look at the unlikely prophets of the Old Testament and the disciples of the New Testament.

The girl in 2 Kings 5 was just an ordinary servant. Yet she bravely suggested that Naaman go to the prophet of Israel for healing. What sounds like a simple request was actually a bold suggestion. For Naaman to go to Israel, it would mean turning his back on the local pagan gods, inviting criticism from his countrymen for putting the military might of his nation at risk.

This nameless servant could have paid a steep price for making a suggestion like that, but she knew where the true source of healing was. Because of her deep concern for Naaman’s well-being, she courageously put herself at risk to direct him to that source—the one and only living God.

Like this young servant girl, let’s be willing to be used by God to guide family and friends to the true source of hope and healing.

God can take a lowly vessel,
Shape it with His mighty hand,
Fill it with a matchless treasure,
Make it serve a purpose grand.  —Bosch

God is looking for ordinary people to do extraordinary work.

Welcome to Free Republic and thank you for your service! I am a poor teacher but I will give you links to two free sites I use to get a link for my graphics.
http://tinypic.com/
click on browse,,click on your saved picture and click on “upload”

http://www.imageshack.us/
click on browae, click on your picture and click on”host it”.
I click on the larger picture..not the thumbnail and right click to get “properties”, copy the address..(URL) and then paste it on a notepad to save it to post.
This all sounded like Greek to me when I first started learning.
God Bless and Keep you Safe.
