Ahmadinejad Vows News Soon on Atomic Work
-Full Story-

Iran's president promised on Sunday Iranians would soon hear more news about the Islamic Republic's nuclear program, which the West believes is a covert effort to build atomic bombs despite Tehran's denials.

"The Iranian nation will soon hear fresh news about our country's nuclear transition," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was quoted by the official IRNA news agency as saying.

He did not give details about any announcements or when the news would be released but Ahmadinejad is due to hold a news conference on Tuesday.

“Three Yale students charged with burning flag”

Posted Apr. 4, 2007
7:02 AM

(New Haven-AP) _ New Haven police have arrested three Yale University students and charged them with burning an American flag hanging from the porch of a Chapel Street home.

The three are facing charges ranging from reckless endangerment to arson. Police identified the three as 23-year-old Said Hyder Akbar, 19-year-old Nikolaos Angelopoulos and 19-year-old Farhad Anklesaria.

They were held in jail early yesterday and later arraigned in New Haven Superior Court. Bond was set at $25,000 for two of the suspects and $15,000 for the third.

Anklesaria and Angelopoulos are foreign students while Akbar was born in Pakistan, but is a U.S. citizen.”

“Whitewashing Jihad in the Schools”
By Michelle Malkin
CNSNews.com Commentary
April 04, 2007

COMMENTARY SNIPPET: “Three years ago, I wrote about a mock terrorism drill at a public school district in Muskegon County, Mich. Instead of Islamic terrorists, educators substituted Christian homeschoolers. Yes, Christian homeschoolers. Here was the description of the school drill plan:

“The exercise will simulate an attack by a fictitious radical group called Wackos Against Schools and Education who believe everyone should be homeschooled. Under the scenario, a bomb is placed on the bus and is detonated while the bus is traveling on Durham, causing the bus to land on its side and fill with smoke.”

Flabbergasting but true. In the wake of 9/11 and the jihadists’ carnage against schoolchildren in Beslan, Russia, the school chose to prepare their students for an attack by Christian homeschooling “wackos,” not Muslim suicide bombers.

Unfortunately, little has changed. Last month, New Jersey’s Burlington Township High School held its own mock terrorism drill. “You perform as you practice,” Superintendent Chris Manno told the Burlington County Times. “We need to practice under conditions as real as possible in order to evaluate our procedures and plans so that they’re as effective as possible.”

But the “real as possible” conditions included no bomb-vest-donning jihadists shouting “Allahu Akbar.” No red bandana-wearing martyrs with visions of 72 virgins dancing in their evil heads. No America-hating plotters enraged by the existence of Israel or driven to establish a worldwide caliphate. Nope. According to the paper, two local police detectives took on the role of hostage-taking Christian gunmen.

“Investigators described them as members of a right-wing fundamentalist group called the ‘New Crusaders’ who don’t believe in separation of church and state. The mock gunmen went to the school seeking justice because the daughter of one had been expelled for praying before class.” Upset Christian students reported on the drill to their parents.

How many other jihad-whitewashing mock terrorism drills have been conducted using tax dollars? How long before we mimic the British schools, where the Holocaust is being dropped from history lessons to avoid offending Muslim pupils?”

Has Pelosi Gone Bonkers?
Farid Ghadry
Apr 04, 2007 at 07:23 AM

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was seen roaming the streets of Damascus flaunting a Hijab. The Hijab worn by women across the Muslim world has come to symbolize either one of three things: 1) a symbol that men control women by forcing piety, or 2) a return to religiosity because of oppressive rulers, or 3) a fashion statement. If you ask any expert on the Middle East, you would get any one of three answers. The ones who usually claim it is a fashion statement are the political rulers who usually oppress people in general. A Hijab is NOT a confirmation of the rights of women in the Middle East but rather a symbol of their suppression.

As a Muslim, I fully understand respect of our religion by visiting US officials and I applaud that respect. Had Speaker Pelosi worn the Hijab inside a Mosque, this would have indicated respect but for Pelosi to wear it on the streets of Damascus all the while she is sitting with the self-imposed Baschar al-Assad who has come to symbolize oppression and one of the reasons why women are forced to wear the Hijab as they turn to religion to express their freedom is a statement of submittal not only to oppression but also to lack of women’s rights in the Middle East. Pelosi just reversed the work of the Syrian civil society and those who aspire for women’s freedom in the Muslim countries many years back with her visual statement. Her lack of experience of the Middle East is showing.

Assad could not have been happier because Syrian women, seeing a US official confirming what their husbands, the Imams in the Mosques tell them, and the society at large imposes on them through peer pressure will see in her wearing a Hijab as a confirmation of the societal pressures they are constantly under. No one will ever know how many women took the Hijab on after seeing Pelosi wearing it. The damage Speaker Pelosi is causing with her visit to Syria will be felt for many years to come.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “In a matter of weeks, the school board will approve a calendar for the 2008-2009 school year. County Muslims are hoping that for the first time it will include a closing date for the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Fitre, which marks the end of the Ramadan month of fasting.

Bashar Pharoan, president of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, is encouraged because he said there was no vocal opposition to the holiday expressed at the three meetings of the calendar committee he attended. The committee is appointed to come up with a proposed calendar for the superintendent.”

“House Democrats Offer Plan to Ban Use of ‘Global War on Terror’”
Wednesday, April 04, 2007

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “WASHINGTON — House Minority Leader John Boehner blasted a Democrat-backed plan on Wednesday to ban the use of “global War on Terror” and “long war” in the 2008 defense budget bill.

A memo sent to Democratic staffers on the House Armed Services Committee instructed the aides not to use the specific phrases, the Military Times newspaper reported.

• Click here to read the memo.

Erin Conaton, the committee’s staff director, sent out the 15-page memo titled “Style Guide for Defense Authorization Report.”

“When referencing military operations throughout the world, please be as specific as possible. Please avoid using colloquialisms such as, ‘the war on terrorism, or the ‘Long War’ Please do not use the term ‘global war on terrorism,’ “ according to the memo.

Late Wednesday afternoon, a source told FOX News that the panel had sent out a revised version making it clear that there was “no political intent behind” the wording.”

New York musician pleads guilty in al-Qaeda case

Published: 04.05.07, 00:43 / Israel News

A New York City jazz musician and martial arts instructor pleaded guilty on Wednesday to pledging allegiance to al-Qaeda and offering to train would-be terrorists in hand-to-hand combat.

The prosecution’s case against Tariq Ibn Osman Shah was based largely on taped conversations between him, an undercover FBI agent posing as an al Qaeda recruiter and an FBI informant, Mohamed Alanssi. (Reuters)

Special Terrorism Summary 04/04/07
Iran – Impending release of the hostages

The announcement that the British hostages will be released makes on wonder what factors and/or deals were made to obtain their freedom. There has been plenty of speculation that there were serious power struggles within Iran between the radical and moderates. The extent that this played out is unknown.

The relative speed that this has been resolved makes one think that the British gave up something of ‘value’ to Iran. This is based upon the Iranian reports that Britain government was ‘behaving better’. What this is will be speculation until the details eventually come out. A second thought is that the soon arrival of the Nimitz to the region by the end of April and the rhetoric of the Bush administration regarding regime change might have sunk into the collective self-protection centers of the leadership in Iran.

Is Iran off the hook? The Nimitz is still enroute and it is doubtful that the Eisenhower will be allowed to depart the region until Nimitz arrives. That will leave a lot of firepower in the region and a window through which the US could launch a coordinated strike against key and strategic Iranian facilities. However, removal of the hostage situation removes some of the justification for the response. Evidence is that Iran is itching for a fight and will try to provoke an incident to their advantage. RUMINT is that Iranian ground forces have already attempted to capture US Army personnel near the Iran/Iraq border. I expect that we might push the edge too via air recon and naval operations in ‘disputed’ waters of the gulf. Most likely a deadly game of chicken will be waged over the hot months of summer until one or the other blinks.

Of course the Brits gave up something of value. Their dignity. Oil is power and power is oil.

Thanks for the ping.

I’m just a bit disgusted over the whole seamy affair. Sounds like Carter redux to me.

http://hammorabi.blogspot.com/2007/04/failure-of-war-against-terror.html

“Failure of war against terror especially in Iraq”

BLOG- WRITER’S OPINION - SNIPPET: “The US sending few thousands of soldiers will never solve the complicated problem which will escalate to a level only God knows if the dispute between Iran and the USA became a military conflict. In deed if Iran-USA conflict escalates into a military confrontation the whole region if not the whole world will suffer so badly. Then the matter may get lost from the hands of every one including the USA and we may see emerging hot points in the map of the world else where. No doubt the oil will not go from both the Gulf and the Red Sea. Oil and Gas producing fields in Qatar and other Gulf region may be destroyed by the Iranian war machine as well as the US aircraft careers may pay a heavy price to the point which will humiliate the USA for the first time in its history. This may become the count down for the decline and failure of the American intervention in the world. Iran will react so fiercely if its Nuke facilities attacked to the point that the Iranian will make sure to defeated and humiliate America for ever. Not only that but the war will never finish and the Gulf will become dangerous place for any US existence in future. Of no doubt Iraq will pay a heavy price more than any one else in such war not because of the attacks but due to the military groups and the border with Iran and the targeting of the US soldiers by the Iranian inside Iraq.

The USA and the world with it have failed in its war against the terror and we will see new kind of attacks and new generations of terrorists in the near future. Indeed there were no Al-Qaeda terrorists in Iraq before the invasion and it is very strong now.”
