Texas FReepers, Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 21, 12:00 Noon.

We are so very fortunate that Freeper "leofl" has arranged to give us a tour of Fort Hood. Fort Hood is located near Killeen, West of I-35 exits at Temple, Belton area. Thanks so much Leo, for making this happen. Please note if you are interested in joining us. We're still working on a few details but for now here's Leo's note to us......

"I will take you on-post to both the 1st Cav museum and the 4th ID area. I will also show you some of the sights and maybe sounds of Fort Hood. Bring your cameras as you can take pictures at the museums. Other places are clearly marked and I assure you you will have a great time. This is a family friendly outing but there are some things everyone should know.

Fort Hood is now a restricted base. We can get on-base but be sure to bring:

A copy of your insurance card and registration for your automobile

Proper Government ID ie driver's license, State id etc

Do not bring any weapons even if you are a CCL licensee. This is federal property and it makes the guys with bigger guns crazy!!! lol

A fun attitude and a comfortable pair of walking shoes.

Children are welcome and appreciated!!! Let them see what some of our brave heroes are doing to protect their future. Besides I'm a big kid at heart!!"

Hi Gracey - Events that ya'll hold such as this certainly make me wish we were geographically closer. This would be a good 4 hour drive. Funny I was just thinking last night how it has been nearly two years since Crawford and need to get my kiddos more exposure to the appreciation we all feel toward our troops. They remember the Crawford rallies with pride.

Keep me on your ping list and we'll see what we can do about this excellent opportunity.

Thank you for asking if 9/11 Lifesaver RICK RESCORLA and I knew each other in Vietnam.

RICK RESCORLA was a U.S. 7th Cavalry Regiment Officer of the 1st CAV Airmobile Division at An Khe, South Vietnam.

I was a U.S. 7th Cavalry Regiment Enlisted Radioman there to Lt. Col. HAL G. MOORE (played by MEL GIBSON in "WE WERE SOLDIERS"), then Headquarters S-1 Personnel & S-2/3 Operations Clerks in our Search and Destroy Operations.

Carrying Radio early on for Lt. Col. MOORE ..myself, MOORE and his Sgt. Major BASIL PLUMLEY (played by SAM ELLIOTT in "WE WERE SOLDIERS") would hear about RICK's always singing to his men ..everywhere ...and it would just crack us up. RICK and I would run into each other from time to time.

In the Valley of Death known as a then Free South Vietnam's IA DRANG Valley of November 1965 I monitored RICK's herosim on a portable PRC-25 Battaion field radio while planted on the ground 3 air minutes away at Landing Zone Falcon.

This in between my carrying off and indentifying our hero Killed and Wounded in Action Soldiers ...from now Medal of Honor Recipient Major BRUCE CRANDALLL's Huey Helicopter ...fresh from the Fight at Landing Zone X-Ray.

I knew then that I had been greatly blessed to be on hand to witness my U.S. 7th Cavalry Regiment's 2nd Battle of the Little Big Horn, of Gen. CUSTER Fame, up close and personal ...scarey though it was. This time to Victory, Thank GOD.

My constantly working online and in talk radio/TV calls for years after 9/11 on behalf of President BUSH's awarding 9/11 Lifesaver RICK RESCORLA a Presidential Medal of Freedom Award ...connected me to his most grateful 9/11 Widow SUSAN. Thus my presence at her Ft. Benning RICK RESCORLA 'Follow Me' Statue unveiling exactly one year ago today.

On the 9/11 Day of Infamy I was co-narrating the Attacks of 9/11 with Former Congressman BOB DORNAN on his National Talk Radio Network Show. BOB was always very generous to me with his on the air time on a daily basis.

The very next day Terrorism Expert MONSOOR IJAZ was on the FoX News Channel telling the American People how all the previous day's grief could have been simply avoided years previously ..if only SANDY BERGER and BILL CLINTON hadn't refused the offers he had personally brokered with the Sudan to give us our already No. 1 Terrorist Enemy OSAMA bin LADEN on a silver platter.

While on the BOB DORNAN Talk Radio Show I had forgotten about RICK being Tower II's Head of Security for the Morgan Stanley Brokerage House's 30 middle floors.

It was only the next Saturday morning that I saw a posted notice on our http://www.lzxray.com website about RICK's being missing at the World Trade Center ..and I just exploded. One hour later I was on The Judicial Watch National Talk Radio Show to scream out:

"My Fellow Americans, don't you DARE let the CLINTONS get away with THIS one."

Year 2007 = "Ditto"

NEVER ever FORGET.

Awesome story. At 4 PM ET, (in a few minutes) Fox News presents all that Sandy Berger did and what our President Bush & Co, didn't do to bring him to his knees?

Thanks anyway. I spent two years touring Fort Hood back when the 2d Armored Division owned it.

I grew up in Belton, Texas, and my dad was Pastor at Grace Lutheran in Killeen overlooking the interstate..

Thanks for bringing back memories..

If I wasn't stuck in the South Pacific, I'd actually consider flying down to Texas again..

.

You're very welcome, Gracey.

That Vietnam picture of a 1st Term U.S. Senator TED KENNEDY and myself was taken 2 years, almost to the month, after his brother President JFK's Assassination.

Sen. KENNEDY was on tour of a then Free South Vietnam's Fight for Freedom ..at the very start of the Vietnam War just weeks before our Battle in the Valley of Death known as the IA DRANG Valley of November 1965.

In other words Sen. TED KENNEDY has always known better than to cut off our funding for a Free People's Fight for its own Freedom.

And yet...
