Texas FReepers, Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 21, 12:00 Noon.
We are so very fortunate that Freeper "leofl" has arranged to give us a tour of Fort Hood. Fort Hood is located near Killeen, West of I-35 exits at Temple, Belton area. Thanks so much Leo, for making this happen. Please note if you are interested in joining us. We're still working on a few details but for now here's Leo's note to us......
"I will take you on-post to both the 1st Cav museum and the 4th ID area. I will also show you some of the sights and maybe sounds of Fort Hood. Bring your cameras as you can take pictures at the museums. Other places are clearly marked and I assure you you will have a great time. This is a family friendly outing but there are some things everyone should know.
Fort Hood is now a restricted base. We can get on-base but be sure to bring:
A copy of your insurance card and registration for your automobile
Proper Government ID ie driver's license, State id etc
Do not bring any weapons even if you are a CCL licensee. This is federal property and it makes the guys with bigger guns crazy!!! lol
A fun attitude and a comfortable pair of walking shoes.
Children are welcome and appreciated!!! Let them see what some of our brave heroes are doing to protect their future. Besides I'm a big kid at heart!!"
Thanks for the pics. Did you just get home? Hope you all had a great trip. Any more pics?
Give my love to CA. I’ve spent a lot of time out there recently... be going back this weekend.
Oh and yea I got about a thousand more pictures, some of them from the Fort Hood tour. :>)
I haven’t had time to put them up and post them yet.
I remember a while ago you saying that you come to California at times.
Let me know in FR mail when you are coming and what part of the state you will be in and if it is close we can have lunch or something.
I’m going to post another pic to the thread, I’ll ping you to it.
Here is a picture of Jim Robinson and his wife Sheila touring the grounds.
Leo, thanks again for the great tour and information at Fort Hood. It was great and it's cool you are taking a bunch there soon!
No Prob Syncro
Enjoyed having you!!!!
We have to do it again but next time with BBQ!!!
Glad you made it home safe!!
Leo
I’ll be there! (green dodge neon!) :-)
Great. Looks like we’ll have a good crowd. Will remind everyone again as time gets closer.
Thanks!
My daughter lives in Round Rock and my son lives in Lakeway. The negative is their mother lives between Jonestown and Laga Vista.
We are trying to plan around morning activities and a 4:00 soccer game with probably an hour's drive.
DD. Only Leo knows... lol. I’ll ping him too. Sure hope you can make it.

I plan to be there, and am bringing a friend from
Waco.

My family and I will be there. Be sure to turn off the rain!!
Great. Look forward to meeting up.
It will probably be about 3 hours more or less depending on what folks want to see
Is it possible for some of us to leave about 2:30?
If you spoke up sooner we could have done a “let’s leave at 11 or 11:30.
Earlier didn’t help me either.
