I'm all in favor of giving the police a flashlight that can be used to both club perps, and can give off a brief, but "dazzling" bright light different from its main light.

The idea is to have a second switch connected to a strong capacitor in the flashlight, so when the officer meets up with a perp at night, he can momentarily blind him with a flash to the face. Having the perp suddenly losing their night vision can give an officer a big advantage, especially if the perp is armed.

"$199 for a $5 mini-mag light. Figures. "

You aren't keeping up with flashlight advancements, my little pocket flashlight that uses a single AA battery goes for $70.00.

The left doesn't care if police are beat up. They want criminals to get away with crime.

I only paid $2.95 for mine, and it's a refillable lighter as well... I've got one in the truck glovie that throws out 10,000 bcp (good for deer) that plugs into the lighter only paid $9.95 for that one.

Tell you what- I'll sell you my $2.95 one for $30. I can get more for your friends, you can sell them for $70.

....a two-pound, two-foot long....flashlight

I keep one of those flashlights under the front seat of my car. There's lots of crazy people on the road these days.

The ol' MagLight knuckle-knocker is always within reach -- with a good excuse (more light on the subject!)--

...Awaiting anyone who reaches into the vehicle without being invited...

It's a "We the People".... thing-a-ma-bob

That would be great for chasing down a fleeing suspect.Just drive the large hook into the base of the skull,he'll slow right down.

For the civilians, a small, super bright, tactical flashlight, and a good knife can accomplish a lot in an unplanned nighttime encounter.

Let me go on record now as saying I've never balamed Rudy.
BTW, how DO you "balame" someone?

There was a local cop known as "Motorola Man" for his creative use of the department-issued radio.

You just know what that MX300 was really for when you saw the finger holes along the rubber ducky.

"New LAPD flashlights are too small to be used as weapons"

Nuts. It's size won't keep it from being used as a weapon, although any video of it being used as such won't look as bad as if it were larger.

As if the police were not allowed to have weapons?

There will come a day when the PC left will call for cops to patrol without guns.

Bart: Wow! Can I see your club?
Lou: It's called a baton, son.
Bart: Oh. What's it for?
Lou: We club people with it.

So don't these cops carry batons?

Yeah but if it's nighttime and you have it in hand already one doesn't want to waste time transitioning
