When I saw the look on his face when he said he would veto this bill,
I told the ThreePuttinDudette, "that's the guy I voted for"
She said to wait until tomorrow, he'll be back to his "New Tone" attitude.
I hope not.....

Ya know, I've often wondered how much more effective President Bush would be if he would hold major press conferences to make statements like this. Maybe if he went on to Fox News or any other network news channel to make statements like this instead of his weekly radio address which virtually no one hears.
To be honest, if I didn't read articles on Free Republic, I'd never even know about these statements from the President. Does he not realize that most of his legitimate criticism of the Democrats will never reach the ears of most Americans if the MSM has anything to do with it?

This is the guy I support.
I wish he would get over this new tone BS.
It has only bit him in the ASS at every turn.

In case you didn't see our President give this speech live today . . . .

Now we need this to be said in a prime time speech to the nation.

Working out this afternoon, I heard Pelosi say that President Bush needs to 'calm down' and that congress is his friend, and they can work together, and basically, that he must do what they want.
I swear, I just about threw a weight at the TV screen.

Someone had better teach him how to veto a bill.

The Democrats cannot have it both ways. They can't say that the Iraqis must do more, and then take away the funds that will help them do so. Iraq is a young democracy. It is fighting for its survival in a region that is vital to our security. The lesson of September the 11th must not be forgot. To cut off support for the security forces would put our own security at risk.I'm glad he's coming out swinging on this!

I think that this speech is one of the very best our President has given to date. Truly visionary, candid, and I believe heartfelt.

You know, it's important for you to understand that the Iraqi people want to live in freedom and peace. I believe strongly in the universality of liberty. I believe people want to be free, and if given a chance, they will take the risks necessary to be free.
I fear that it is upon this misunderstanding that the whole of our mideast policy is doomed to fail.

I do not see the democrats backing down no matter the veto. They will just give him another bill to either sign or veto and he will be faced with no monies for the military or withdrawal. What will he do then? I am beginning to think this may force his hand in Iran. He may just go ahead and strike them quickly while we still have forces to do so. Destroy their nuclear facilities which will hopefully set back their ability to produce weaponry for another 5 years or so. This would be a tremendous accomplishment and in time (as the Israeli strike) would be recognized as a courageous act that might save the world from conflagration. Of course, it might take some time for people to give him that credit and in the meantime, we would be roundly denounced by the rest of the world and of course by our leftists and their media. But considering that the leftist world already hates both the U S and Bush, what is there to lose.
