The Gathering Storm Against Giuliani (Known Pro-Life Activists vow to oppose him in the GENERAL)
CBN ^ | 3-28-07 | David Brody

Posted on 03/28/2007 8:14:18 AM PDT by TitansAFC

Here's a heads up for the Giuliani campaign. It's coming. It's coming very soon. Beware. Run for your lives! As I write this, there is plotting going among grassroots religious conservatives in New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina and many other states. They want to take down Rudy and they plan to do everything in their power to do it. I received this email from an influential Republican activist who, lets just say, has an extensive mailing list among the conservative grassroots network. Here's what he told me:

"If Rudy Giuliani is put up for President by the Stupid Party, I will work 40 hours a week as a volunteer to destroy his candidacy for President; that is how important the prolife position -- and other social issues-- is to many people of faith. Sure, the Evil Party might get control of the White House again, and the Stupid Party might therefore go the way of the Whig Party in the early 1800's, but so be it. The Republican Party must NEVER nominate a pro-abortion candidate. That would be far worse than the Republican Party putting up a pro-slavery candidate in the mid-1800's. That is how strong many of us feel David. Many of us will also be putting in 40 hours a week during the primary/caucus season to defeat Giuliani at all costs."

Tough words. Don't think for a second that these activists aren't serious. They are. They know Rudy is getting some traction from social conservatives and they are not going to take for granted that Giuliani will fade once his views are known. As these activists galvanize, they could star in a movie.

You say that now, but you'll be willing to hold your nose and vote by the time the 2008 election rolls around. If it's either Rudy or Hillary, you know which way you'll vote, and we do too, which is why the RNC isn't too worried about party unity issues.

"Who will do a better job of killing our enemies?"

Almost ANY candidate on the Republican side which is why there is NO REASON to vote for a liberal Republican.

"If it's either Rudy or Hillary, you know which way you'll vote..."

Yes, we do know which way we will vote and I guarantee you that it is NOT for a pseudo-Democrat. Most of us will not vote for the real Democrat either, and yes, we are well aware that means "President Rodham" because NO faux Democrat will beat the real thing. The only morons who don't realize this are the Rudy-bots and the Country Club Republicans.

Rudy's Supreme Court nominees, by the way, would be no better for Social Conservatives. anyone suggesting otherwise is full of crap.

Absolutely. Rudy would make pro-abortion, pro-gay, anti-gun appointments to the SCOTUS.

I completely agree. I will not vote for either Rudy or Romney. I can manage to vote for McCain. To me, if Rudy gets in, the entire Republican Party will shift to the left. This country has one party left of center. Do we really need two? At least if Rudy doesn't get in, the Republican Party can hopefully shift right again. All in all, if Rudy gets the nod, I will be giving my vote to a conservative third party candidate? Will my candidate lose? Probably. However, at least I won't have sacrificed my principles. With Rudy, what will we have won if we have compromised everything we've stood for?

well, at least you folks are showing your true colors now with the "I'd rather lose" posts. More and more of those are trickling in lately. You are finally admitting now that you'd be fine with handing it to Hillary.

I appreciate your honesty, its helpful for others when making their judgements.

"I'd much rather lose than have Rudy win."

This is about as foolish a statement as anyone who calls himself a Republican could make--your way or the highway. How does that further the conservative agenda in any way? The only thing it would do is assure Democrats a victory in '08.

To hell with that.

Times have changed. We need a streetfighter--somebody who puts fear into the opposition, who understands how the intelligence agencies operate, who would weed out the moles undermining Republican administrations, who would haul the editors and publishers of major newspapers into court for treason when they reveal top secrets, who would assail the media directly and openly when it gets out of line and undercuts U.S. foreign policy. Only Guiliani fits this profile. Thompson and Romney et al. say all the right things and are all nice guys--but they like to get along with the opposition. We've tried that for seven years. It doesn't work. We need a fighter for a change, somebody to take on the media especially. Rudy took on the NY press--and put them on the run. He's what this country needs--not a gentlemanly candidate who doesn't have a clue about how to run a government.

Actually, it's the country-club republicans who'd rather throw elections away -- by running rotten candidates -- than give people of faith an honest place at the table. People with transcendent allegiances are harder to corrupt, buy, control.

You have your place at the table. But that doesn't mean it's your way or the highway. My interest as a conservative Republican is to keep power out of the hands of the Clintons. That means priority should be given to the candidate who can win the most electoral votes in a general election, not to the candidate who is ideologically most pure.

You know my stand.

If Giuliani wins the GOP Primaries, I am voting Constitution Party in the General. Period.
I may or may not decide the same for McCain or Romney, but with Giuliani I've already made my determination.
(Unless they run a joint ticket with the Constitution Party, I do not expect my oft-favored Libertarians to run a pro-life candidate in 2008)

Won't it be great watching Hilary barbecueing babies on the grill on the White House lawn? When one's done, she'll throw another "shrimp" on the barbie for you!

Talent, Allen, Santorum - all solid conservative senators, all tossed out.

the base on its own cannot elect anyone. they can either be part of a winning coalition, or be spoilers and toss it to the Dems.

The Forbes endorsement ends the discussion. Rudy is in.

ROFL! You're kidding, right?

Forbes is a magazine editor, nothing more. He only gets attention from being born into wealth.

Yep. Republicans love to eat their own, especially if it leads to the election of you know who.

Eating our own, how? The primaries haven't even started yet.

All in the name of teaching the Republicans a lesson.

Yeah we should obediently accept a liberal Republican. God you people are such sheep.
