Rudy Takes Message to Talk Radio (Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh)
Washington Post ^ | 3/28/07

Posted on 03/28/2007 6:27:42 AM PDT by areafiftyone

Continuing his courtship of conservatives, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is running radio ads on the popular talk radio shows hosted by Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

"My campaign is about leadership and optimism," Giuliani says in the ad. "We need strong leadership to stay on offense in the war against terrorists." (Listen to the ad here.)

He also highlights his support for "supply side policies and reduced government spending" to "keep the economy growing."

The commercial ends with a plug for his campaign site -- joinrudy2008.com.

Unless the Republican candidate can appeal to Independents, Moderate Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats the Republicans will NOT win in 2008. If they think a Social Conservative will win then they didn't learn their lesson from 2006.

Rudy is running paid advertising during Rush's show. There is no way to tell if its a local spot availability or a national ad.

No doubt that Rush is conservative, but Rush's marriages/divorces are right in line with the rest of the "conservative" candidates....

Fred can join in at his leisure.

Oh that's rich! Since when do Freepers have millions of dollars? It will take about $100 million to run a big campaign and also the first quarter deadline has come and gon last week for raising for the primary. Fred needs to step up now unless he is deciding to use alot of his own money like John Kerry did. Maybe he will. That would be alot easier.

I think a social conservative can certainly win if he is a good enough candidate.

Being invited on Sean's show is not exactly a huge milestone. Hannity has for a long time been on the Rudy bandwagon.

Listening to conservative talk radio all yesterday afternoon I noticed three separate shows devoted an hour each discussing Fred Thompson, taking calls about him from callers who all liked him. The first radio program this morning announced they will have a Fred Thompson update at the top of the next hour.

I don't believe Rush is a candidate. Am I mistaken? I thought he was a private citizen and had a radio show. I am divorced also. I can't remember saying anything about Sir Rudys many divorces.

Probably national. The RATS have also ran ads during his breaks. That doesn't mean an endorsement from Rush. If a station picks up the ad, Rush has no control over that.

I agree with you on that one.

A candidate who is a hard-core leftist on so many issues isn't going to win, either -- ESPECIALLY if he runs as a Republican . . . because leftist voters are going to support the Democratic candidate, anyway.

First thing is that Rudy is not a conservative. I don't usually argue over his divorces, although he would be wise to quit flaunting it.

My objection to Rudy is his past liberal record and support of the gay/lesbian groups, abortion, guns and being proud of his policy being like Clintons.

That is not a conservative agenda.

Ever heard the adage "All politics are local?" If you haven't, I wouldn't waste my time in trying to explain....all politicians vote the way their constituents want and demand them to vote...I don't hear people like yourself and liberals applauding Rudy on his leadership on crime in New York City nor on his leadership on tax relief for the working citizens of New York. Rudy has my vote....on many, many facets of his leadership. Choose your own candidate at your own peril, but don't blame Rudy when things don't turn out the way you wanted them to.

You sound rather alarmist this morning A51. There is a bunch of unclaimed money right now. It will reveal itself when and if Thompson and Gingrich decide. Rudy is spending money on Rush and Sean ads right now. Fred is talking to millions from Paul Harvey's microphone for a couple weeks and posing for millions more in his TV DA role each week. That time is worth many many $millions spent on campaign ads.

I will remember that. I won't blame Rudy if he doesn't get the nomination, or if he does and loses.

No matter what, I am in no peril for not voting for Rudy..at least..no more than you will be if you do!

When Rudy was mayor, he had his own radio show on WABC, the station that has given America Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin. The current mayor has a co-host and they take questions, but Rudy really had his own show every Friday that was broadcast from City Hall. He took real calls from real citizens with real problems, and then he cut through red tape to get the help they needed. He was a great mayor who cared deeply about his constituents.

I really wish FR would add an ignore function. All these Rudy cheerleaders make finding any thoughful discussion of the GOP nomination quite tedious. Of course, that's their intent.

They'd have us believe Rudy the RINO is our only hope of victory in 2008. They'd have us believe all the primary money has already been raised and spent. They'd have us believe it's too late for anyone else to run for the GOP nomination. They've swallowed the media's darling nominee hook, line and sinker, and if you don't agree with them, you're a bible-thumping, homophobic, redneck hypocrite.

RUDY IN 2008 - GAYS and ABORTION Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Rudy is a born leader.....!

Yeah, but where does he want to lead us? I've had a bellyfull of northeastern RINOs trying to lead us back to the bad old days of liberal Rockefeller Republicanism. Been there, done that, didn't work.

I want nothing but real conservative Reagan Republicans leading the party and the nation, and Rudy aint one.
