CALEXICO - U.S. Border Patrol officials confirmed Tuesday the man who was shot near the Mexican border on the west side of Calexico died at El Centro Regional Medical Center, where he was transferred after the incident.
The man, whose identity and legal status in the United States has yet to be determined, was shot once with an M-4 assault rifle, which is a condensed version of an M-16, Border Patrol Agent David Kim said.
An M-4 is one of three standard-issue service weapons provided to agents by the Border Patrol.
Kim said agents saw the man, along with a group of people, scale the international fence and use a raft to cross the nearby All-American Canal.
Kim said, according to initial reports from agents, the man attempted to return into Mexico and was involved in a struggle with a Border Patrol agent.
After the struggle he grabbed a softball-sized rock and began walking toward the border fence, Kim said, and an agent with an M-4 assault rifle was approached by the man with the rock.
The man raised the rock as if to throw it, according to reports, and the agent shot him once with the assault rifle.
It could not be confirmed where the man was shot, but Kim said it was at pretty close range.
Four of the men who climbed the fence began throwing rocks at agents on the north and south side of the All-American Canal and an agent fired a shotgun round in their direction, Kim said.
He said it was not known if anyone was struck by the shotgun blast.
The exact location of the agent who fired the shotgun wasnt available.
The four men fled back into Mexicali.
At first, Kim said, agents used weapons that resemble paint ball guns that fire pepper spray rounds but resorted to lethal weapons when they proved ineffective.
A lighted Molotov cocktail that did not explode was found near the scene after the suspects fled, Kim said.
Kim said a smuggling organization is believed to operate in the area, but its involvement in the incident could not be confirmed.
Mexican authorities were contacted and secured the area near the incident on the Mexicali side of the border, Kim said.

Yep. How long will it be before the other four illegals turn up with shotgun pellet wounds and Sutton has the agents arrested?

I would be impressed if the Mexican were shot point blank with an M2.

Let's hope Sutton doesn't try to make another example of this one.

I did like her as Jessica6, and thought her outstanding in "American Werewolf in London".
Yes, she is still quite lovely. I'm not surprised you found a recent shot, but I am grateful. Thanks, now I feel old (BG)

I heard the fifty round drum magazine had problems with jamming. Is that true? I'm not sure about that. I've never owned a Thompson myself and only shot a couple of them. The ones I shot had the 30 round "sticks".
The 50-rd drums (And even 100-rd ones) could jam if not loaded or maintained properly. They were both 20 and 30 round 'stick' magazines but you never loaded 20 nor 30 rounds. You loaded 18 & 28 as this would keep the springs in better condition and keep the 'sticks' from jamming.
Here is a Model 1921 with 100 round drum:
and a 1928 with 50 round drum:
Hey, you pudknockers, don't
ever...
sell the 50 round drum short!

My favorite Jenny Agutter role, even having seen her in the near 'flesh' with my very own Mark I eyeballs in
Logan's Run...
>
was her Molly Prior in 1976's
The Eagle Has Landed.
Jenny's screen time was not much, but her earthy way beguiled me completely. She had a great line:
I'm sure you could find a hundred things wrong with me, Mr. Devlin. A thousand. But you wouldn't throw me out of your bed on a wet Saturday night I'm sure... That's men for you! Anything is better than nothing.
And where I Liam Devlin, himself, I would not have felt any more emotion than when he wrote:
Molly, my love... as a great man once said, I have suffered a sea change and yet nothing can ever be the same again. I came here to Norfolk to do a job... not to fall in love. By now you'll know the worst of me. Try not to think it. To leave you... is punishment enough. But it will not end here.
For as they say in Ireland, we have known the days...
Gad!
That gets me hot!
Well, keep that heat to yourself...
or I'll cool you off!
Hot Babes with guns!
How logical...

Dang! You sure treat your guns nice.........
You mean "her" name is Rachael? Nice name.
Most people I know don't give their guns names.
You are obviously a very kind and thoughtful person.

You are correct. There is most certainly a failure of communication.
I must admit that I've never had any luck at all establishing meaningful communication with guns or pictures of guns not to mention pictures of movie or cartoon characters.
Therefore, based on said previous experience (or lack of said experience) I respectfully decline providing my credit card number.
I'm sure a person of your obvious integrity not to mention your kind nature will understand.
Thank you

Mine is a Fully Automatic Model 1928 marked "Property of US Navy." The barrel length is 10.5 inches... Which proves longer is not always better!
Indeed!

Awwwwwwwwww....
Back in the day when the .380 Ingram MAC-11 wholesaled for $64...
Once I made the sales pitch for a Suppressed MAC-11 that if you had a line of ammo bearers following you, you could go into a sold out Oilers game in the Astrodome and the only way the players on the field would know anyone was being taken out was the cheering would get quieter and quieter and quieter and quieter... and quieter...
I sold four to a PD near Houston and took their two M-1 Thompsons in trade. You'll never hear of any terrorists going there!

I've seen that picture, and I really, really hate it. All I have is an Auto-Ordnance 1927. I am sooooo jealous.

It is time for Bush to come out from the bushes and start giving a free hand to our brave border agents. While he is at it, he should issue pardons to and reinstate the border patrol agents that were railroaded into the pen on the testimony of a drug smuggler.

A couple of decades back I ran an escorting chase car for an armored car service that made deliveries to wholesale diamond distributors and pharmecutical deliveries, among other things, and I got the choice of any vehicle and any weapons I wanted, since mine was a one-person car. Accordingly, one of the tools aboard was an M10, less for its full-auto capability than for magazine capacity; with two 30-round mags taped together it was managable in my left [non-driving] hand, and I could maybe manage a magazine removal and reversal with the short and handy buzzgun. But it did not have the can on the end; I WANTED it obvious if I had to use it- and without the suppressor screwed on, it fit neatly in the car's glove compartment.
Nobody ever tried for one of our shipments while I was *in back with the MAC,* as our uniformed truck crews were fond of referring to it, much to the disappointment of the dealer who had let me have it at his dealer cost, about $188 with a bunch of magazines and accessories.
