A cancer victim has accused his sister of condemning him to death by refusing to donate her bone marrow for a life-saving operation. A warning to boys everywhere .... treat your sisters nice or they won't give you their bone marrow.

I think there is more to this story then is being told.
The hard feeling between the two must have come from somewhere.

I have to admit that if I was the dad and my sister was gonna be like that.... I'd be scoring some payback before I checked out.

Looks like sis doesn't like boys, even her own brother.

Moral of the story: Don't tease your sister.

Bad feelings are one thing. But refusing to donate bone marrow that could save someone's life is something else. I don't care how much she hates her brother, this is truly inhuman.

Some people have no common sense.
Such a serious and personal matter -- surely NOW after posting this on the Internet, there will be even LESS cooperation.
It is unfortunate that people cannot restrain pen and tongue. Prayer would have been more effective, me thinks.

How could a person not donate bone marrow to save someone's life even if it is someone you don't like? Wow.
I would sure like to know the rest of the story.

It's a pretty sorry state of affairs when a sister won't donate bone marrow to save her brother's life (though I admit that I don't know any of the details of their relationship). Still, it's hers to donate and she has the right to say "no".
Nevertheless, I get this odd feeling that the follow-up to this story will be the promotion of some new legislation in the UK that legally requires one to donate such things as bone marrow, a kidney, or such to save the life of a sibling. Perhaps even a stranger.

I've seen plenty of email warning about traveling to China lest you awaken in a tub of ice missing your kidney.
Sis would wake up in a country ditch missing her bone marrow. ;)

First she agrees, then she reneges. Wonder if 'her partner' talked her out of it. If something happened to her, said 'partner' may have to fend for 'itself'. She may be the breadwinner and has two young kids. Too much at risk for partner.

Donating bone marrow is not without consequence. The pain is just the start. I know a donor that spent about 6 months fighting all sorts of issues, some of which was because of the anesthesia, others included ongoing pain and pneumonia that nearly killed him.

My daughter is a cadet at the Air Force Academy......They all voluntarily donate blood for the troops on a regular basis....
However, a month ago the administration put through an unusual request for bone marrow donor volunteers.....she went through the testing and was a match for an 8 year old girl somewhere in the mid-west....
After Spring Break, she goes in for the procedure. From what she has been told the procedure is mildly painful but she believes it's worth it.
