Why let a little thing like the truth get in the way of a good anti-military story?

Summary: We couldn't prove it was true before the deadline, so since it might make the war (and by extension the President) look bad, we ran it anyway.

Aaron Rectica, who runs the magazines research desk, disputes that. He said that by [the NYSlime's silly company] deadline, the Navy had not given the Times any reason to disbelieve Randalls claim of service in Iraq. Rectica said the Navy only told the paper that Randalls commanders believed shed been in Iraq but that no one in the unit had been in combat.
Oh, I see. The mighty Aaron Rectica sits in judgment of the US Navy. The US Navy needs to hurry if it hopes to please Aaron Rectica!

Someone probably identified the fraud and the NYSlimes probably then went out and offered their "source" some sort of payments if she'd cooperate in officially being outed as a fraud - instead of just admiting their own complete lack of due diligence because she made a "story" that - like Dan Rather - they believed was true.
Remember, liberal/leftist journalism is a religion, not an objective profession.

The New York Times published a lengthy editor's note yesterday. Actually, it published two of them; both are on this site today. This one involves a former naval construction worker who told the Times magazine that she served in Iraq, was in a Humvee that blew up, and was raped twice while serving in the Navy. Yet another example of the MSM's numerous editors and fact checkers that those on the Internet just don't have!

it is now clear that Ms. Randall Kerry did not serve in Iraq Cambodia, but may have become convinced she he did.
