Tunes For The Troops
For this weeks Canteen Music Dedication we move along the timeline to "Power Metal" music.
Power metal is a style of heavy metal music with the aim of evoking an "epic" feel, incorporating characteristics of primarily traditional metal along with thrash metal or speed metal, often within symphonic context.
Power metal lyrics are widely associated with being "upbeat" or "optimistic." Power metal is a style highly focused on the vocalist, with "clean" vocals being much more prevalent than the growling vocals often associated with death metal and black metal.
The selections below are just a sampling. This music is provided for the entertainment of our Troops, Veterans, Allies & their families!
Enjoy the varity of musical selections that the Canteen Deejays have provided throughout the thread. All DeeJays are happy to fill requests dedicated to the troops if we can.
All music is removed on Monday! Thanks to all the DeeJay's for their time & effort providing entertainment for the Troops!
*Canteen Mission Statement*
Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before. |

If your PO is anything like ours anything one can do to avoid it is most desirable!
I'm not beating up on postal workers....rather the opposite is true.
Out here they are understaffed & work such hard, long hours! They earn every dollar they make.
To: AZamericonnie
It's a half hour wait.I know it before I go there:)

Pack a lunch! LOL
I saw a gentleman on the news the other day who said they were removing all clocks from the PO's so people wouldn't "see" how long they have been waiting...don't know if that's true or not.
Like we don't all have watches & cell phones to tell the time with!
To: Old Sarge
I thought I did, but no sound on my end....trying to find another.

Each yeah the Glassman Foundation pays for most of the costs and the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Big Brother and Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Clubs, Campfire, .... I know I'm forgetting some,.. gather to show what they've done and the skills they've learned over the past year. For us that's the Cub Scout Council level Pinewood Derby. We had booths for OA, NESA, and over 50 Units set up booths for games and activities that all could go around to; sorta like a county fair, and try. We had a rope monkey bridge, we had compressed air volley ball cannon, we Atala throwing (nerf tipped of course), miniature marshmallow blow guns to make out of PVC pipes and shoot then take home. We had the Sidewinders Front office there giving out flyers for a Scout Sleepover and Ballgame, a Scout Clinic where the scouts will be coached in the finner point of Baseball on the field themselves by the Sidewinders players and coaches. All that after being on my feet 8 hrs last Saturday for the District Camporee.

Well I am getting paid to stand in line so it's not that bad.I know all the postal workers so we tell jokes.Bob had a Bob the Builder Man at his station.Someone took it and left a Ransom note. The little man went to the Virgin Islands with all the girls with pics.It was funny. It came back one day when Bob was on lunch with copies of the pics.So I stole him-heehee:)He came back from lunch and said OK Who did it and they all ratted me out so I had to give Bob the Builder back:(

That sounds like a blast Sandy!!
I can only imagine the hours & manpower that goes into setting up such an event.
I bet the kids had a super time! Adults too!
Much thanks to the Glassman Foundation for covering costs.
To: AZamericonnie
It is always a blast. We even have Scout Units from Mexico that come up and particpate as well.

ROFLOL....how fun is that! What a cute story. The guy must have a great sense of humor.
To: AZamericonnie
He does, the girls had little Bob drinking, sitting on their laps, taking a nap in the room, looking at a lizard, that one was a hoot cause the lizard was bigger than him.The real Bob is on the road now so we can't harass him any more so we pick on Jerry:)

Howdy! no , she never found it .
the band's name for that album was just Lerouix.
It was the same band, but they just added "louisania's " to the name.
That album was put out in the vicinity of 1977, So it coulld well have made it to CD.
