Fox News reporting that the dog foods are contaminated with rat poinson.
I haven't read the whole thread....so bear with me. I suspected terrorism all along. Suspected but was afraid I'd be laughed off the board. Menu knew something was wrong months ago - can't find the article anymore. I gotta admit - I've been feeding my dog boiled chicken lately rather than the IAMS dryfood which is supposedly "okay."
Again, bigger than that I think "THEY" are just practicing. Human food supply next.
(Pardon if this has already been beaten to death)
But unless they eat the exact same cans or pouches, one of them may have eaten a poisoned can and the other one didn't.
Of the 3 cans tested, 2 contained poison, 1 did not.
A cat here died after eating just one MEAL of the poisoned food. It ate the food on Monday, went to the emergency Vet that day, and died on Thursday - after 3 days at the Vet under intensive care.
Over 1,000 cats and dogs have died SO FAR, and those are just the ones that were reported to a website (think of all the people who aren't even computer literate who have had pets die... think of all the people, like you could be, who didn't recognize the symptoms so their pet died and they didn't even know it was from this recall... think of all the people who did know it was from the recall but didn't bother to list it on the website... In other words, there could be several thousand who have died, SO FAR).
Get your dog to the Vet just to be sure.
That's my advice anyway.
Well,He seems to have some of his spunk back,(he's been playing again) and his water consumption has gone from a bowl a day to a half bowl a day. I started feeding him Alpo(not on the list)but he doesn't seem to like it to much. However we will keep an eye on him and I won't give him any canned food. I think some pet food companies will not recover from this. I won't buy any crap thats on the list ever again!
Mine eat Purina One also, but I sometimes give them a can as a treat. A vet on the radio said that as canned foods go, the solid spoon-out types are OK, but the wet gravy and chunks kinds are suspect.
They are fed from the same can, split up between them. I think she's okay. She's an older dog and has some problems. The mixed breed dog is only 5 months old and frisky as....well, a puppy!...........

I highly recommend it<
My dogs are doing great on Eagle Pack holistic chicken kibble. My only gripe is, it's hard to find in my area.
We feed our 50# English Pointer Pedigree wet in the evenings and IAMs dry after her morning four mile walk. The neighborhood has more cats then the wildlife can handle so we are catless...
Your very Welcome...
Terrible, horrible thing...Who's going to pay for all those vet bills?
I'm so thankful my kitty only eats dry food...
1,188 dead as of about 2:55 pm today (not sure what time zone, but not Pacific time).
As the news about that website increases, more will report.
Doesn't include pets who have died but haven't been reported:
1. because owner didn't know about website
2. owner doesn't have a computer
3. owner didn't think death was related ("it was just old age")
4. owner never knew about recall
5. owner didn't bother to report (it won't bring Fido back)
etc.
In other words, there may have been SEVERAL thousand who have or will die that we never hear about.
we may have a problem

I am putting mt dog on Bil Jac.
My dogs get pureed pumpkin from the bakery aisle mixed in with the dry. High in nutrients, high in fiber, low in calories, and they LOVE it.
For anyone still reading this thread, I recommend ABADY brand dog food. Made for CANINES. Ingredients dogs need and can digest.
Ever notice how Coyote poop disintegrates in the woods in a week or so? That's because they digest their food because they are eating THEIR diet, not a man-made diet. But did you ever notice that dog poop will last for eternity and never disintegrate? It's due to all the fillers added to their food.
Commercial dog foods have different fillers to (1) make more food volume so the dog thinks it is getting full, (2) make a firm kibble so it's easier to feed and so dogs have something to crunch, (3) make a firm poop, since the dogs can't digest all the junk they put in the food, their poops are soft, so they add a filler to firm up the poop so we humans aren't as offended by a runny stool and so we can scoop the poop, etc.
If you take out all that junk, you have ABADY.
Feed about 1/2 to 2/3 as much as regular dog food (even "the good stuff"), it is more fully digested, which means less poop, and the poop disintegrates in a couple weeks (for those of us who have a little land and don't have to scoop, at least it disintegrates in a short period of time).
Oh, and double bonus: For people who's dogs have food allergies (you'll know because your dog's poop will always tend to be a little soft, and it will be VERY VERY stinky)... If you feed ABADY, their poop will firm up and it will HARDLY stink at all !!
(No, I'm not affiliated with ABADY... I just love their food for my dogs.)
Glad to hear he's doing better. Keep an eye on him though, obviously.
Try a brand called ABADY. It is really good. Small manufacturer in New York. Can't get it at stores, but you can have it shipped to your doorstep UPS. Feed 1/2-2/3 of what you feed now, and they digest it really well, and it's good for them.
I mix it with warm water.
Ok good... Sorry I jumped on you but you scared me for a minute... thought you might have been one of those oblivious-to-everything-around-them types who "didn't know September 11th happened". ;-)
Hope your dog isn't affected by this. Good luck.
What do you mean?
Click the link... may include DRY food.
When I was younger, my pets never got all the weird failures of organs that pets get now, kidney failure being one of them. A few years ago I asked my vet about it and she said that pet food is coming under more and more suspicion as the cause because they are putting things into it that they didn't use to add.
My 15-year-old cat began throwing up his food a few years ago, almost every meal. Ignoring the vet's advice to put him on meds, I changed his food, and he was able to tolerate it better. I have to keep changing it, because after a while he starts upchucking again. I'd come to the conclusion I need to start saving a portion of the chicken, meat, and fish I eat and put it through the food processor with a little broth for him. He does very well with that. Poor little guy. Imagine having such an upset digestive tract all the time.
