Embargo all Chinese agricultural products until we can confirm which slave labor plant in China tainted the pet food components used by Menu Foods.

why on Gods green earth are they buying wheat from China in Canada?

On March 16, 2007, Menu Foods initiated a recall of numerous varieties of dog and cat food that were manufactured at two of its plants in the United States between December 3, 2006 and March 6, 2007.Menu foods head office is in Ontario, Canada, but the bad food was produced at two factories in the US, and one in Canada.

I think Menu Foods was actually buying processed wheat gluten from China, not raw wheat. The slave labor wages in the PRC likely offset our costs making the gluten here.
It's amazing now, how many raw materials are shipped all the way to China, processed and then shipped all the way back to North America.
A fully loaded 40' container shipped from the PRC costs about $2,500.00 US in freight charges. Despite that expense, it is still cheaper to use the $0.50 a -day- labor charges manufactures can get in China.

why on Gods green earth are they buying wheat from China in Canada? This was my question, too. And if the whole manufacture occurs in Canada, what's the deal with Albany? And, does the USG still pay our farmers subsidies not to grow wheat?

Do we know for a fact this poison was sprayed on the wheat or is it a bran like slug bait that was paced on the ship to kill the on board rats and got into the cargo?

Even better, then. I predict a tsunami of lawsuits.
And well deserved, too.

All dogfood is poison! Look at the crap they put in it. What true canine would eat that stuff in the wild! They need Meat and uncooked meat at that just like nature intended.

We switched a while back to Pet Promise cat foods. They use no byproducts or rendered meats. All pure real nutrition.

Yes, real meat foods are necessary for dogs and cats skin health. They NEED FATS for their skin and coats! My dogs were on dry dogfoods (no human foods) and had various skin problems. We switched to canned meaty foods and even give them fat scraps and bacon drippings and voila! Skin cleared up!.......

You mean AFTER you take him to the Veterinarian IMMEDIATELY, right???
To: Red Badger
Surely you are kidding...
But if you're not, (a) I don't know how you could not know the symptoms by now when this has been all over the news, and (b) If you feed any of the recalled foods, GET YOUR DOG TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY.
To: BagCamAddict
I did. I thought this was a "new" recall, not the one from last couple of weeks..............
