Gawd, talk about having it bass-ackwards. Freedom is having lawful authority butting out of your business if you are not breaking the law, and only passing laws that truly deal with public safety and not nanny-state social engineering.

Let's see, Rudy says all people must surrender to a lawful authority. Then he says, even if all human beings do as told and surrender to authority (govt), that they have no reason to expect that authority to whom they surrendered themselves to help them.

Rudy may no longer be a devout Catholic, but his worldview is very similar to the communitarian "order" preached by the Church historically, and followed by blue collar types in the NYC area. I'll trust Anglo Saxon Classical Liberalism (the ideology of the founding fathers) over the Eurostatism of Giuliani anyday of the week.
