John Edwards is suspending his campaign for President, and may drop out completely, because his wife has suffered a recurrence of the cancer that sickened her in 2004, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, an Edwards friend told The Politico.
"At a minimum he's going to suspend" the campaign, the source said. "Nobody knows precisely how serious her recurrence is. It’ll be another couple of days before there’s complete clarity."
"For him right now he has one priority which is her health and the security of the two young children," said the friend.
As for the campaign, "You don't shut this machine off completely, but everything will go on hold."
God go with you, Mr. Edwards.
He is much more caring than I had given him credit for. Does anybody think either of the clintons would have done the same?
Politics aside!
May God bless and protect the Edwards family and give them the strength to go through this test.
We can all criticize John Edwards for being a liberal political lightweight, but his devotion to his family is something that I have always admired - especially for one who is in the DC political arena where too many politicians look at affairs as 'perks' of the office.
I expect that he will eventually drop out of the campaign.
I've always thought Edwards could be a formidable candidate under the right circumstances, so I'm not sorry to see him out of the race.
But under these circumstances? I hate this ... I hate cancer ... I hate sin that brought sickness and death into the world.
And I pray for a complete recovery for this dear wife and mother.
My grandmother was in her 60's when she died of the awful disease. She had it and went into remission and was on her way to getting better. One day she found it had returned and than she was gone, like a month later. I was only 13 at the time and I remember it like yesterday. There was no way to control it and it came back and killed her so fast. That is the thing about breast cancer. It can go away and all is good and than it comes back and your dead.
I pray that doesn't happen to Mrs. Edwards and pray for a cure for this awful disease.
Prayers for the Edwards family. May He hold all of them in His loving arms.
I hope she has a complete recovery and admire him for staying by her side.
I am surprised he didn't blame this on Bush and his making stem cell research illegal!!!!

I won't say anything rude, but it's not because I care what DU or anyone else thinks.
If anyone has a justified caricture of meaness it's liberals.
I think conservatives are soft enough as it is.

As unpleasant as it is to consider that possibilty, it is none the less, a possibilty for someone such as he.
Spreading sunshine again, I see. Why don't you give another human being the benefit of the doubt, just this once? It won't hurt. I promise.
Please say it isn't so, Mrs. Edwards. My heart is wrenched for you, my friend. I will pray to our Gracious God for mercy. :(

I am offended that you would put us in the same league as liberals. I doubt if you will find anything posted here other than people praying for her well being.......whether you had posted that plea or not.
