John Edwards is suspending his campaign for President, and may drop out completely, because his wife has suffered a recurrence of the cancer that sickened her in 2004, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, an Edwards friend told The Politico.
"At a minimum he's going to suspend" the campaign, the source said. "Nobody knows precisely how serious her recurrence is. It’ll be another couple of days before there’s complete clarity."
"For him right now he has one priority which is her health and the security of the two young children," said the friend.
As for the campaign, "You don't shut this machine off completely, but everything will go on hold."
I hate to guess at these things.
He sure picked the wrong morning to do his errrands.
I don't think "he doesn't get it", I think they probably made the decision together.

Well in that case I consider him an even bigger A$$ than before. Very sad to use this to gain publicity.
i know someone who is undergoing treatment now for breast cancer spreading to the bone. although it is not good, the doctors told her she could live 10 years. she has gone 3 already, although she gets treatment every single week. all we can do is pray.
He needs to be a husband & dad now - not the prez....

The title of this thread needs to be changed...He isn't suspending his campaign.
my sisterinlaw had breast cancer that metastized to the bone and she lasted less than a year from that development. they definitely have my prayers.
I applaud Sen. Edwards for putting his wife and children FIRST!

One political note: Hillary and Obama will start being a lot nicer to Edwards in hopes of a future endorsement. No more attacks on Edwards policies.

"He" needs to do whatever is best for his family. And if this is what he and his wife has decided is best, then so be it. I won't judge them for their personal decisions.
That is my suspicion. By their description, she fractured a rib on the right, and the mets was found on the left side. The fracture occurred by movement. Not a good sign.
I hope she gets great treatment and that it works well for her.
Yes. She will campaign with him as long as possible.
