House Bill Would Allow Illegal Immigrants To Stay Then Re-enter Legally (Gutierrez, Flake)

(March 21, 2007)--A bill in the US House proposes that illegal immigrants leave America and then re-enter legally before becoming eligible for permanent residency.

The plan by Congressmen Luis Gutierrez of Illinois and Jeff Flake of Arizona is expected to be announced Thursday.

The measure calls for illegal immigrants in the US as of June 1 of 2006 to remain on six-year work visas.

During those six years, they must learn English and civics, pay a $2,000 fine and settle back taxes.

At some point during the six years, they must leave the US and re-enter legally with their work visa.

But Texas Congressman Lamar Smith, the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, where the bill will be routed, has doubts.

Smith says if such "touching back" means an illegal immigrant can simply cross the border for five minutes and then gain legal status the provision is meaningless.

"At some point during the six years, they must leave the US and re-enter legally with their work visa."

And if they don't then what? The president and his band of RINO supporters have already told the invaders that it's unrealistic to send them back. Why would the invaders comply with this phony provision six years from now, when their numbers will double. The fix is in folks.

Someone call the police and fire department. The nation is on fire, and someone has to witness this destruction. There are none who are going to put out the fire in our nation, instead congress says "Let it Burn." Our congress critters are about to make a lot of money on this one.....shaft the citizens and those here legally and reap billions of dollars from those who want the illegals here. Wonder when our congress critters will retire? It is a foregone conclusion those congress critters voting for this bill will be made wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. The citizens and those here legally will pay, and pay, and pay. Such is the way.......

Are these people REALLY THIS STUPID!

This is the same logic that called a 30 MINUTE TELEPHONIC CLASS "bankruptcy abuse reform" (for those in rio linda, bankrucy reform was supposed to prevent bankrupcies by having a class before filing requirement. The class is a 30 telephone call, a recording in most cases, which does NOT reduce actual filings. In fact it actually reinforces the people filing the bankructy)

SOOOOOO, here we are with a sham leave BUT GET AN AUTOMATIC RETURN.

this is just AMNESTY WITH A ROAD TRIP!

When will the GOP stop being so squishy with Democrats on all of the issues and finally, if ever, grow a political spine!?! It's always the GOP that ends up "compromising" with the "political left" on all of the issues before passing on legislation, and it's always the conservatives that get ignored on all of the issues whether they are in the political majority or not! Too many conservative politicians at every political level continue to be too afraid of the mainstream media at every turn! The continuing U.S. illegal immigration problems will end up getting even worse everyday, and the U.S. will soon vanish as a country! How many times do we have to keep saying all of these things!?! Wake up GOP! Wake up!

Maybe the GOP has incentive to fight this time.

If they really want to win in 08, that is.

Make your phone calls people!

I read an article about a wk ago that said all the immigration special interest groups were feeling their oats since the phone calls against amnesty had fallen from 400 to 1 to 200 to 1 against.
Can't let this get past us.

"At some point during the six years, they must leave the US and re-enter legally with their work visa."

If you read the really small print in this bill, "leave and re-enter" can be accomplished by just going to some port of entry, like Denver or Chicago airports, and going through Immigration to pick up their papers.

These morons can't even be honest with the people.

When the government does not have the moral will to fully respect and enforce the laws presently on the books, they do the Dean Wormer dance of secret double probation or some such stupid thing as has been come up with by these two yahoos.
