Last week, with no fanfare, Mr. Hunter unveiled his own plan that his office says will "set the stage for withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq." In a letter to President Bush, Mr. Hunter calls for rotating Iraqi troops into combat assignments and, once they prove adept at the new role, American forces can leave the country. Mr. Hunter offered his plan after returning from a fact-finding mission to Baghdad, Ramadi and Fallujah. He doesn't give a specific date for withdrawal, but his plan is certainly a sign of waning support among Republicans for the war.
[snip]
As his Iraq plan shows, symbolic attempts at micromanagement are becoming the mandatory way even for ambitious GOPers to distance themselves from the war without seeming to be in favor of defeat.

"Its worse than spin. It's a blatant lie."
I was giving the benefit of the doubt.
That does not mean you are wrong, it just means I am trying to be nice.
What I do know is that this article is an incorrect assessment. Either way it is a lie or spin. It is not the truth.
Sounds to me some libs are worried.
I think so. The WSJ, anyway.
This boils my blood.
You're a jackass. This was a hit piece on Hunter, pure and simple. There is no depth the Rudy boosters will not plumb to somehow make their guy look conservative.
Years ago I used to rely on the WSJ for all things politcal. Unfortunately most people don't understand that they have sold out to the globalist open border cabal. And now they're not even above out and out lying.
Not from a hit and run artist! What a shame that's all they have. If they actually supported a conservative candidate they wouldn't have to resort to such dishonesty.
Crickets. As usual.
LOL The very first line in the article is a fabrication. No need to read any further.
Isn't that exactly how the President characterized it, a last chance? Now I think that was one more mistake on his part (and perhaps he didn't really mean it since Gates has talked differently since) but then if Vitter or Giuliani or anyone takes the same position they're just following the President and to criticize them for it is therefore to criticize the President.
Has Bush given a timetable of the end of the summer? Vitter has.
