Poland to ban 'men in skirts'?

Poland to ban 'men in skirts'?

Calls are growing in Poland for a ban on 'men in skirts' because drunken Scottish flashers have been upsetting locals.

Agnieska Gaspar, 23, from Krakow, said: "You can't go round the corner without seeing a Scot showing off what he has under his kilt while one of his mates photographs him.

"I saw one lying in the gutter the other day with his kilt round his waist. He was drunk, and it was freezing cold - I am surprised he did not get frostbite."

Poland has become a major destination for UK tourists mainly attracted by the cheap beer.

Authorities in major towns like Warsaw and Krakow have already complained about the drunken British tourists often coming for stag parties, but now they say the kilted Scots have added an extra dimension.

In the city of Wroclaw, officials are exploring a kilt ban after being horrified by groups of drunk Scottish men who lifted their kilts to strangers.

Local police who have born the brunt of the complaints say a kilt ban would not be possible, but have promised to crack down on the partying Scots and make sure they keep their kilts down at all times.

A Wroclaw city council spokesman said: "So far the police have told us that there can be no ban on people wearing kilts in our town as it is an accepted form of dress and there is nothing offensive about it.

"However, we are still looking into the matter as we have had a number of complaints from people who were confronted by drunks lifting their kilts and exposing themselves and we feel that this is not the kind of behaviour our city wants to see.

"Why would we want to see what a Scotsman wears under his kilt?"

Why are there drunken Scottish flashers in Poland? I can't imagine tourists from Scotland putting on their kilts, getting drunk and flashing innocent Polish people, unless soccer is somehow involved. Also, why do people from Scotland have to go to Poland to have stag parties in the first place? This story raise many more pressing questions than it answers.

In South Philly, we had a similar problem with our mexicans whizzing on the sidewalk as they staggered home.  After a couple of them woke up in a puddle of their own waste, missing a few chiclets, the problem seems to have cleared up.

Amazing what a little "community policing" will do.

it was probably just a joke.

During a recent international sporting event, one of the Scottish track and field coaches was entertaining some friends and colleagues in his hotel room. Unfortunately, the supply of drinks in the room's minifridge was quickly used up, and so, after receiving directions to the nearest liquor store, the Scottish coach departed to purchase additonal refreshments.

Upon arriving at the store, he noticed that there were only two other people waiting in line. As he walked over to stand to the rear of this pair, he noticed that both of them were dressed in military fatigues, were heavily bearded, and were smoking cigars.

The Scottish coach was not too surprised by this, since everyone at the track meet was wearing their traditional national costume. Indeed, the Scotsman himself was clad in a tam o' shanter and a kilt woven in the tartan of clan MacDonald.

As the Scottish coach waited, however, he was surprised by subsequent events. The first of the men standing in front of him ordered several bottles of whisky and rum, but when the cashier informed him of the total, the man simply shrugged and said, "I'm with Fidel."

Hearing these words, the clerk smiled brightly, quickly produced an accounts book and had the individual sign for the bill.

The next individual in line proceeded to order at least twice what his companion had ordered, and, upon being presented with the total, this man also replied, "I'm with Fidel."

Once again, the clerk smiled, produced the accounts book, and the bearded man signed.

By this time, the Scotsman had figured he was on to a good thing. As a result, when his turn came, he ordered several large bottles of whisky, bourbon and rum; four six-packs of cold beer; two boxes of cigars; several cartons of premium cigarettes; and many bags of snacks. As the cashier rang up the total, the Scottish coach replied, "I'm with Fidel."

"Hey, wait a minute," the cashier protested. "You can't be with Fidel."

"Why not?" the Scotsman responded.

"Because," answered the clerk, "all of the guys with Fidel have beards and long cigars."

Pausing for only a moment, the Scotsman reached down, lifted up his kilt, and proudly announced, "Secret Service!"

Sorry, couldn't resist. Maybe the "Scots" are actually in the Cuban secret service...?

Reminds me of an old, very lengthy, and complex song about a drunk sleeping Scottsman and what happens when a few ladies come upon him and leave a memento after examining what they dont wear under their kilts..

I won't repeat the whole thing here but the punchline is that he goes to relieve himself after waking up and another observant fellow says " "I don't know where you been m'lad but I see you won first prize"

True Scots don't go akilter. They do not lift their kilts to anyone, including Mrs. Kilt.

I would say the best thing the Poles can do is charge these iimitation Scots with indecent exposure and slap them in the brig. A kilt does not a Scot make, behaviour does.

The flowers of Scotland do not go to Poland for beer. They would go for whiskey. These sods who are flashers are likely weeds of England.

Poland has recently became a very popular destination for weekend trips - owing to cheap flights and relatively low prices in the country.

Like an Englishman would wear a kilt. Face it, these were Scots. Of a sort.

Polish beer must be awfully cheap to offset the cost of airfare and lodging. I know my math skills are pretty pathetic but I didn't think it was genetic.

Is 1,5$ for 0,5 liter cheap enough?

Let a few Scots wakeup missing their Rocky Mountain Oysters while passed out drunk and that will end their flashing spree.

Easy solution: When a Scot 'flashes' you, give him a knee in the groin. If he tries to press charges, you can always say he was attempting to assault you sexually.
