No details yet....
My hubby "nearly" made eagle - he left the program just before that point. But I have every reason to believe that Scouts was one of the primary influences that made him into the fine man that he is today.
"I was afraid he'd been taken by a mountain lion. That has happened, even here in the East"
When and where? Haven't heard of a mountain lion attack in NC ever happening.
This is why you never give up looking.
Until recently I did a "lot" of scouting. My son got his Eagle and I have been goofing off lately.
We seldom gave kids their Ritalin on weekend campouts or summer camp. We just ran them until there were too tired to be adhd.
Boys were just not engineered to sit around in a classroom and be nice and quiet. Some even less than others. This Ritalin is just for the convenience of the teachers and the parents. My 2 cents.
I dropped to my knees and gave thanks. I heard the father speak this morning and felt a real connection. I am so grateful the boy has been found.
When my son was 13 we backpacked to deer hunt in the California Sierras. He had a map, compass, space blanket, whistle, and a lighter. He even had extra waterproof matches sealed into his rifle stock behind the buttplate along with fishhooks, line, extra ammo, and snare wire. The most important training I gave him was how to build a fire in the rain and stay put until found.
You are really harsh! I am certain that this boy has learned a might large lesson. Had you heard that he is just 12 years old and was with adults whose responsibility it was to keep track of him?
Say what you want, but...this is certainly a day for celebration.
Actually my son is a brand new Boy Scout and he is only 10! Just crossed over from Webelos 2 weeks ago. He won't be 11 until June.
Hopefully we haven't violated some Boy Scout rule about age at entrance. . .
If you happen to be one of those parents or teachers that's good enough!
And God.
I agree. Ritalin keeps studs more docile, and that way they are more easily herded into the politically correct way of thinking.
Except when it doesn't.
I believe its technically 5th grade or 11 years old.... I'm sure someone here can tell you the finer points of the rules. Generally the kids are 11 when they cross.
I believe if a boy has earned his Arrow of Light he can cross over at ten. That's what my son did. He's twelve now and a Star Scout, almost Life.
Awesome News.
It sounds like this Scout will have an adventure story to tell.
His dad said in an interview that he figured that his son would be found in a shelter making up some beef jerky or something. He said that he had the wits and training to survive.
I'm so glad that my boys are Scouts and that I get to help lead them and a bunch of other boys.
Boy Scouts is a tremendous organization and is necessary in America and the rest of the world.
the BSA does teach teamwork (and the buddy system)....
........but more importantly it teaches Rugged Individualism!!
LOL...I was kind of wondering if he saw "300" and went out looking for a wolf....
