Scientists blame Hollywood for increased fears over global warming

Leading climate change experts have thrown their weight behind two scientists who hit out at the "Hollywoodisation" of global warming.

Professors Paul Hardaker and Chris Collier, both Royal Meteorological Society figures, criticised fellow scientists they accuse of "overplaying" the message.

They sparked controversy after saying statements made by the highly respected American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) were not justified.

The AAAS said last month: "As expected, intensification of droughts, heatwaves, floods, wildfires, and severe storms is occurring, with a mounting toll on vulnerable ecosystems and societies.

"These events are early warning signs of even more devastating damage to come, some of which will be irreversible."

Professor Collier said that while he is not sceptical that such events could happen, it is important to be "honest" about the scientific evidence behind projected future impacts.

He said: "We must be careful not to sensationalise our side of the argument or Hollywoodise the argument otherwise you end up in an ever increasing cycle of claim and counter-claim.

"We have to be clear about what our level of understanding is and to be clear about where we are making judgements based on understanding."

Anything could happen, but any real scientist should be skeptical of claims they will happen when there is no evidence to back them up.

The meteorologists I've talked to at the NWS don't buy it. Matter of fact, it's a real hot button issue with them. It ticks them off faster than anything else I've seen. The problem is, the real scientists don't get the publicity; the people behind the whole thing are leftists and politicians.

Don't tell Sen. Olympia Snowe about these real scientists' reservations concerning global warming. She and her fellow zealots will brand them "global warming deniers".

We have adult children here too so thats why we have Dish We do limit TV for our 7 yr old daughter. However Tick was played on one of the channels she is allowed. I think it was Nickelodeon. She is banned from TV this week so she won't be seeing it. But both of those links are disturbing to me.

I know. The little English brat I would seek help for asap. That kid has problems. I love children , have brought up 6 of them, 4 of my own and 2 whose parents couldn't raise them. At one time or another I have had my son's have their friends living here for various reasons. But that English kid I would like to kick. I totally hate Al Gore now. If its not the darn gays ruining my day its the global warming issues....~P~

At the risk of stating the obvious...

It ain't the kid, it's the adults who are manipulating him and the rest of the world's youth who need to be kicked.

The kid is just parroting what he is being told to say and believe.

Organizations like Greenpeace and Earth Now need to be turned into pariah organizations. People who tout them should be laughed off the stage. Anyone who recites their garbage needs to be ridiculed without remorse.

No kidding its the adults & the way he is being brought up. Its sickening to see the look in the kid's eyes & twisted attitude. IMO somebody ought to get him help asap. I am sure he believes all this BS.

I am sick of Al Gore, Greenpeace and the lot of them. If they try to show that movie to my child I will go ballistic again on the school. I am sure I am on the top of the nutty parent list after I tossed a fit over the That's A Family movie. I keep telling my husband that we must homeschool next year. I plan to all summer & show him it can be done. I am determined to give my child a childhood without all this bs about its ok to be gay & global warming and who knows whats next. I still recovering from the bus driver alarm.... I have no problem with telling people who preach to me about global warming where they can go either. I get emails & phone calls from every nut there is asking me for money for their cause. The last one I told I do my part... I have a compost heap and hung up on her.

Thank you very much. I will show it to her today. She has been having bad dreams since seeing Tick. The other one that alarms her is the one on health care...Using children IMO is a lowdown thing to do...I try to limit tv as much as possible but if I am watching TV she sees these commercials. On the whole she is a very normal child for her age. Since she was born when I was 41 yrs old she is around her older siblings much of the time and they want her to have a happy childhood.... not one filled with fear over everything. We have had to explain things to her I wish we didn't need to but its better she be told straight true facts then the bs these people are saying. It really upsets me to see how many children are pushed into little adults at such young ages. She goes to 1st grade with girls who have mother's streak their hair and let them wear makeup already! Thats just not going to be my child ...not until she is at least 16 yrs old or so. If even then...

There is help on the horizon for home schoolers. There is a television network, internet based, that is still in the developmental stage planning to feature homeschooling channels for every grade and subject. The intent is to provide parents who do not feel qualified to teach certain subjects a resource that will feature classes taught by "family friendly" teachers, available on demand.

I will provide more info as it becomes available. The folks behind this are conservative Christian, pro-gun, pro-family...in MSM terms...Right-wing Extremists.
