Republican officials operating at the behest of the White House have begun seeking a possible successor to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, whose support among GOP lawmakers on Capitol Hill has collapsed, according to party sources familiar with the discussions.

If they had kept their seats and majorities in Congress this would not be happening.
You have to win elections.
I'm about done, pal.
BTW, I said if she was withdrawn, I'd never give the GOP another cent; and I haven't since.
Not one penny.
And I don't intend until the GOP stops pandering, which will be when hell freezes over, so I'm planning another trip to the Virgin Islands. :-)
yes, that's true.
but the political appointments those civil servants work for, can box them in and make sure they aren't pursuing their own agendas.
otherwise - we just might as well cede control of the entire government, to these career Dem aparachiks inside these agencies.
ROFLMAO!
Right.
Ok, you haven't offered arguments as to why he isn't spineless as it goes to defending his administration. Now saying my comment was foolish because you said it was directed at the CINC, which I never stated...you muddied the waters with that one.
At this juncture in my life, unless the militia has been called up in defense of the nation, I'm not sure that I can presently call him my CINC. I will stipulate that he is one of the better CINCs of the nation's armed forces.
I have no issue with how he has functioned as CINC.
Look, up in the sky!
It's a bird.
It's a plane.
It's a TRIAL BALLOON!
I've thought of threats, perhaps to Laura, others? I've thought of medical problems, I just can't put my finger on it. Whatever it has been since the second term started. Even Cheney does not seem to be his old self. But I believe we will one day hear what was going on and be shocked.
What do they have on Bush?
LOL!
Did you miss the part where the "real, true" conservatives here on FR demanded no deal with Dubai?
Did you miss the special session of the Senate when they pandered to the Schiavo voters?
National Guard records. LOL.
Oh, FSG.
I hope it wasn't a plan: Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush, Clinton, Clinton, BushBushBush...
It let's him resign, with some semblance of a pretense that he wasn't forced out. "Well, we hoped he'd stay, but we regretfully accepted his resignation."
I can sure understand WHY he would be dispirited after Katrina.
I remember him on TV 2 days before it hit, begging people to evacuate New Orleans.
I remember a NATURAL DISASTER happening...and yet before the hurricane had even left the New Orleans area, the DEMs were already blaming Prs. Bush.. the MEDIA were down there practically calling him a racist murderer.
Yeah...I can see why he is dispirited...I don't remember ANY GOP Reps or Senators coming to his defense...as if he NEEDED ONE..
My Gosh it was a freakin' hurricane and he is STILL being blamed for it.
It wouldn't matter WHAT he said last week or the week before about this US attorney thing....the MSM would distort it...Laura Ingraham and other hosts would laugh at him....and the GOP Senators would cower.
I see a pattern. Where there's a lot of bush, you'll find Clinton.
