This is almost becoming some kind of comic tragedy. If I were the Dems I would be howling at how easy this has become for them. Isn't that the truth? It is incredibly sad and pathetic. And we had all that "political capital" to spend after the 2004 election. It went downhill fast.
Remember when Bush said this after being reelected:
I earned capital in the campaign, political capital, and now I intend to spend it. It is my style. That's what happened in the -- after the 2000 election, I earned some capital. I've earned capital in this election -- and I'm going to spend it for what I told the people I'd spend it on...

Absolutely! You are exactly right! If the pundits and the Congressional Republicans would have stood up against the press and the democrats right after Katrina, NONE of this would have happened. Instead, the opportunists on our side decided to use this to weaken the President enough to get concessions from him on a variety of issues, and now look where we are!
I have no idea why the President doesn't tell everyone he's had it and THEY can run the darn country.
George Bush and his family will be targets of Islamic extremists for the rest of their lives.
The. Rest. Of. Their. Lives.
Who am I to tell him to make even more enemies?

If Gonzales leaves it will be because he cannot take the heat (personally). He will not be fired. But if he can't take the heat.....he needs to go. That pay grade doesn't allow the luxury of needing one's hand held during tough times.
Exactly!

Title should be White House Surrenders to radical left.
OK well who is the left going to go after next.
Just an FYI.... This is what we will get if any of the other three RINOs get elected. This is why we need a real conservative for President.. Not this crap!

They have continually demanded for SOMEBODY'S head about something;I remember when Norman Mineta's head was demanded on a stick. For some unknown goofy reason. I'm thinking it had something to do with the TSA.

....this is the *lesson* they showed Congress and the WH....
Look for more in 08, if the GOP doesn't buy a clue. They are so out of touch, even with their own membership.
So, what would you recommend to open their eyes? All the voters have is elections. 06 didn't get their attention, apparently. So why keep more of them in Washington? Bite the bullet again and clean house!

Gonzalez has weak body language...like a woman. I trust Jon Kyl implicitly and am glad he's speaking out against Gonzy.
Did you get the Fred Thompson thingy rolling?? I wasn't excited at first, but I liked his direct answers a LOT last week.....so THANKS...HONK! HONK!

"I very much doubt anybody even pays attention anymore when Bush gives a speech. He's becoming almost irrelevant."
I recently started muting his speeches or just turning the channel. There isn't any passion or anger in his voice. Just the same old same old. It seems like he has lost the fight and just wants out.

You can spend capital while people are stabbing you in the back.
I fear the GOP is headed for a defeat of Biblical proportions in 2008, because they have turned people like me, their true base, off.

Me, too. I always thought he'd win in the end. Right now I'm just angry because I feel like we've been fighting for him for 6 years and it feels like he's abandoned us. I pray for him every day; may have to start doubling up on the prayers now.
