It looks like a three way dog fight is emerging between Rudy, McCain, and Romney. As a Romney fan it looks like the advertising in selected states like NH an MI are working.

And HELLO, Rudy is where he is in the national polls because of his strong association with the WOT."
The point is what are the facts and reasons to back it up.
Romney has been clearer than any other candidate about who the enemy really is (Jihadists) and what is needed to defeat them. Being clear and correct is not a weakness.
Hunter and McCain have more military experience. But McCain went wobbly on military tribunals to pander to the media and has been far too willing to criticize his own party.
Rudy is just running on celebrity and has no plan at all - for Iraq, for Iran, for anything... His poll is name ID only ... we cannot win the WOT with gauzy ads about post 9/11, we need someone who understands the stakes and will fight to win. What's the plan?
Brownback went AWOL on recent Iraq vote (so did Ron Paul).
I dont know Huckabee's and Gilmore's positions.
I'm left with thinking that only Hunter and Romney are acceptable.
What say you? You asserted a claim that Romney would be weak on WOT. What's your evidence?

Ah, the joy of being unforgiving and unappeasable towards the last true blue-state conservative ...
Are you enjoying the Democrat majority in the Senate yet?
You do realize that Santorum's loss is a huge blow to the conservative movement, dont you?
Does that bring tears of joy to your eyes?

"If you want to peruse FR polls, it will show you that Rudy has hundreds of supporters here. "
I perused the polls and found Rudy lost the head-to-head votes against Newt Gingrich, against Duncan Hunter, and against Fred Thompson... by alot. he did beat out John McCain, but I suspect that a poll between head lice and John McCain would be neck-and-neck on FR.
Truth is that Rudy will not poll much higher than he is doing today. Those of us who see Rudy's background, even those of us who like him, are not buying.
Any of Duncan Hunter, Fred Thompson, Newt Gingrich or Mitt Romney would be a better choice for our nominee. And I say that even though Duncan Hunter would almost certainly lose to Hillary (I believe the others have good shot to defeat her).

Without commenting on the races or the chances of individual candidates, I think I made my point to the posters, which was that Giuliani has hundreds of supporters here, although I am not one of them.

Hey doofus, Romney hates Castro and supports the embargo... Boy, it's "shoot the messenger", eh? So is the consensus that the bungled speech of Romney's was fake news? If not he screwed up by using Castro's line to end his speech.

"Rudy is where he is in the national polls because of his strong association with the WOT. The point is what are the facts and reasons to back it up."
OK, I'll try again with real actual facts. Among other things, Rudy was a fearless prosecutor under Reagan who went after the Mob, drug dealers, prosecuted Mark Rich (of Clinton pardon fame) who was illegally dealing with the terrorist Iran, and prosecuted a notorious Puerto Rican terrorist group in NYC (also pardoned by Clinton). As mayor he threw the terrorist Arafat out of Lincoln Center, returned $10 million in blood money to a terrorist sympathizing sheik, and his presence and leadership during 9/11 is self-explanatory as the whole world witnessed first-hand.
"What say you? You asserted a claim that Romney would be weak on WOT. What's your evidence?"
Like I said earlier, I like Romney, right now he's my 3rd choice. My #1 concern in 2008 is the WOT. Romney is untested in the arena of crime and terrorism. Saying one is going to be tough just doesn't cut it. I'm not going to take that chance. In peacetime Romney would be the Man. However, in dealing with the WOT I'd want a pit bull.

McCain won the MI GOP primary in 2000 because Democrats crossed over to screw with the election.
Michigan is in the tank economically -- our idiot Canadian Trash governor now wants a 2% Misery Tax on services -- and dems are STILL blaming Bush.
Forget about Michigan. We're hopeless.

Or...this poll is meaningless since it shows McCain leading."---
The Thompson in the poll is former governor Tommy Thompson, not Fred Thompson.
Tommy Thompson will be lucky to get 2% LOL

But Norman,
this must be bogus because everyone is telling us McCain is dead, and dying more every day. By next month he'll be really, really, really dead.
Interesting to note: Newt Gingrich gaining in recent polls of NORTHERN states. I did not think this would happen, but it is.
Romney showing better these days, too.

As far as I'm concerned - if Rudy's the nominee, there is no "us" to speak of. And you're damn right many of us will be working for a Third Party if the GOP goes that ultra-Liberal on us.

There's no press scrutiny surrounding the Olympics, one of the most successful venture capital firms or the Republican governorship of a true blue state? Hmmm... I see.

Look, when all three top contenders for the GOP nomination go running away like little school girls from a comment by Ann Coulter, there is no leadership among them.
Well, I guess retreat but that doesn't inspire. I'm still waiting for any of them to inspire instead of saying one thing to get elected to the bluest state then saying another to get a more conservative nomination.
I will say right now that except for his lack of leadership skills, Romney looks the best if I ignore what he said in the past but if I have to vote for a lib, Rudy at least has stayed consistent with his views on issues I disagree with. And he did show some leadership ability under pressure, though one wonders how Ann Coulter came to be too much for him.

As opposed to the generous action of supporting the end of Conservatism as we know via Rudy Giuliani?
I'll be selfish, then.

Look, even though we may love Ann Coulter, most women and independents do not approve of Ann Coulter, and they certainly don't approve of what she said at CPAC. If you think we can win in 08 against Hillary without the support of some women and independents then good luck to you. The top candidates understand that reality. They know most voters are not Freepers. Imagine that.
Second, Ann Coulter does not need any man saving her or coming to her defense. She does just fine on her own.

They also could say, "I don't have anything to do with Ann Coulter, I'm not going to apologize for her."
They are all weak-willed girly-men devoid of any leadership skills and right now none of them deserve my support.
