I was there. I was standing with the vets at one of the bottlenecks intended to keep the commies away from the Wall.
It was a sight to see when one of the commies tried to get through the bottleneck with his sign. The vets trashed his sign and blocked his way.
Words can't describe how it felt to be standing there with them.
Damn, that was a an excellant account.
Hats off to all who participated.
It is wonderful to see our military so honored and that it remain so. It's time and should have been done a long time to make sure these brave men and women get only the very best.

Thank you for posting Del Vecchio's first-hand account of the Gathering of Eagles 2007. And thanks to Del Vecchio and all the other organizers who made this event so meaningful.
It was a great day to support our troops, honor past servicemen and servicewomen, protect our sacred monuments and speak out for freedom.

Several things:
1. Park Police estimated 30,000 vets (and others).
2. Park Police estimated 8,000 of the moonbats.
3. Michelle Maulkin's website is LOADED with other Vets who chimed in with great pictures and stories to tell of their weekend adventure. There's even some interesting moonbat pictures.
My congratulations to all those who participated in any way in this event. It moved me to tears several times, and I've written several stinging emails to members of the media for ignoring those who "love" America and focusing on those who "hate" America. I just wanted them to know - we noticed - and their claim of being un-biased was shattered yesterday.
And .. if the group of moonbats who showed up yesterday is the example of what the democrats believe is America .. the dems have blinders on - on purpose.
