I know that many conservatives are also pet owners, such as myself. I have listed the Dog Food brands, but there is a list of Cat Food brands as well found at the Menu Foods website. Just the other day on a conservative talk show, Barbara Simpson of KSFO AM in the San Francisco Bay Area, was discussing how the idiots now want to mark products with a carbon footprint reading on the product, but how she is concerned about all this meat that is coming from all over the world from China, Mexico, Timbuktu, and the meat product often isnt marked with the country of origin. There are consequences to this globalist agenda, be it United States Presidents, Republican or Democratic, who will not close the border with Mexico, the consequences of terrorism taking advantage of agendas that serve global business interests, diseases of all sorts that are entering our country because of the massive influx of illegal aliens who are not inspected, trucks in large numbers entering our country from foreign nations who use low-pay foreign nationals as well as hiring drivers from poverty stricken areas such as India, Sri Lanka, and other parts of Asia (Canada is an example of such hires), vegetable products from Mexico which have heavy pesticides, and countless other examples, and we are not being told the full story nor the potential for serious impact to our social network. In this case, it is pet food, but we really dont know the extent of it or if it is related to meat products from foreign origin. It may turn out this time to not be related to foreign meat products, but I am not sure that if it were actually related to foreign meat products that we would get the entire story. And, this may not be isolated only to Menu Foods line of products and pet food or if in fact some meat designated for human consumption is possibly impacted.

I guess the new buzz word is "carbon footprint". I was just getting adjusted to "gravitas" and "global warming".

I usually feed my beagle pup Purina or Pedigree, so thankfully I don't have to take back the food I just brought her on Thursday.

My local Petco just told me that as far as Nutro brand goes, the recall only applies to "pouches," not the regular dry food.

We never fed our dog the wet food for what that's worth.

There are more than a few FReepers who have reported their otherwise healthy Cats have become sick or have died from kidney failure.
I would guess than many of the pets who have died from Kidney failure lately have eaten this food, but it went without notice.
I'm taking my Kitty to the vet, but have to wait till Wednesday.

Thank you! I have two dogs.
We need to make sure that it didn't come from the company who put out all these brands "Menu Foods" (Ontario based).
Iams and Eukanuba were also in the newspaper as pet food that was harmful, which surprised me, as they are SUPPOSED to be the best.

...idiots now want to mark products with a carbon footprint. There is enough markings on our products as it is, not to mention that whole mess may be repeated in one or more languages. In many cases product instructions a pushed in to a corner in fine unreadable text.
Another note. I'm sure these idiots would also want to include a "genetically altered content" as well.
I can hardly wait to see the bureaucracy that controls this. Talk about a carbon footprint.

Yikes! Brian, thanks for this post. My family and I both thank you. I had about five packs of the Nutro Natural Choice wet dog food that I sometimes give my dog for a treat.
One pouch, a few weeks ago, gave her incredible stomach upset and lethargy for a day. I figured it was just because she wasn't used to the change in her diet. She's been back on her dry food and has been her fine, frisky, goofy self.
I wonder if the pouch I'd given her had been one of the tainted kind, and that we really missed a bullet this time?

Last night on our local news (Orlando) they mentioned it might have to do with the manufacturers switching to a new and cheaper wheat gluten used in the processing. Not sure if this is factual- but that is part of the specualtion out there...
I feed my two corgis dry food only- they seem to do better all around.

Thank goodness Purina isn't on either list. My dogs are young, but I don't think that my ol' boy cat could handle kidney trouble. I've often thought that a good terrorist plot would be to attack the pet food industry--demoralizing.

I do use the hard food for the puppy but had to worm him for hookworms and use the soft to mix the powder for the worming..He ate it up and loved ever bite of it and seems as frisky as ever..I will mention this to the vet though...and see if the pup needs some testing..

I've read that wheat gluten is the suspect ingredient. It's used to create the "gravy" in soft pet food. I'm surprised there has been so little speculation about tampering. The culture we're at war with is not fond of "pets" per se. We, on the other hand, are quite fond of them. Safeguards on food products for human consumption strike me as too relaxed; I can imagine that they're next to nonexistent for pet food.

Also, Hills Science Diet has issued a voluntary recall of some of their cat food. I'll post the type of food they are recalling and if you have any of this food, check the link that I am giving as they list the lot numbers.

Maybe you could ask a mod to put (wet) in front of Pet Food in the title?

We bought some "Ol' Roy" recently for our dogs. Usually they eat Mighty Dog but the store was out of the big multi-packs.
I opened a can and it smelled like gasoline. I kid you not. The whole case went in the trash.
