"Are you folks kidding me or what? Do you know anything about what happened? His little son was shot and killed. His unarmed wife was shot in the head by an FBI Sniper while holding an infant child in her arms. The FBI had ILLEGAL shoot to kill orders. Why? because he failed to show up for court. Then they repeated all the mistakes in Waco. All this while ignoring radical Islam..."
You are so right PajamaTruthMafia. It's instructive to keep in mind his offense; he illegally shortened the barrel of a shotgun; a setup deal by the ATF. Hardly a crime of sufficient magnitude to require FBI and ATF Swat Teams, the murder of his family, etc, etc.

"I do not blame Hourachi".
The "I was just obeying orders" defense went out with the Nuremburg Trials.

Gordon Kahl was under surveillance and he knew it. He could have been picked up at the meeting, but the Feds had a surprise for him and wanted the remoteness of a rural environment.

If he still wants to blame everything on the government then he hasn't changed and is still a paranoid loony.
Given what he went through, I don't think you could call him paranoid. Loony, maybe.

I agree. Generally the govt runs a pretty neat ship. The TWA800 investigation was done very professionally. 270 witnesses were ignored, only a few went to jail, a few lives were ruined and the coverup continued to the end in a pretty professional manner.
At least they are willing to spend millions to get a man for lying about a non-crime.

How ironic that this happened during the administration of the first president to proclaim that "The New World Order" had arrived, none other than GHW Bush.
No irony at all. The practice continued with Clinton and now they are such buddies.

I don't wish to minimize Bush 41's responsibility;
Bush spouting off about the New World Order certainly fed a lot of fear of the government.

Good evening.
"Deer hunting in Idaho in August?"
These people were poor. A deer could provide them with a lot of food and they were in need of that meat at that time. The original entrapment had used the family's poverty to persuade Weaver to cut down the shotgun barrels that brought the ATF, Marshals and FBI HRT down on them down on them.
Poaching? Does it matter in this case? Is that why the Feds came after them, just as the Weavers believed the government was going to do, and killed two of them?

I'm starting to think that it might make sense to start a list of "adrenaline cowboy" incidents with LEOs. I suppose I'll start with this thread and add the keyword Adrenaline Cowboys when I remember to.
Here's another example. Just today.

The FBI and BATF covered themselves with dishonor at Ruby Ridge and Waco. Over a decade later, the criminals with badges remained unpunished, from Horiuchi to Reno.
Meanwhile the border patrol agents who nicked a mexican drug smuggler are serving eleven and twelve year sentences.

It's not commonly known but poor rural people still occasionally eat one of the kings deer.

My origial premise was Weaver is responsible for the needless deaths of his children and it was jmo. If he wanted to fight to the death okay, but he didnt have any right to subject youngsters to that decison. They are too young to vote, too young to drink, too young to marry, too young to fight in the military, too young to see R rated movies and too young to decide for themselves. Weaver admited he was wrong and you should too.
Ive already had my life threatened in private email on this thread. Most of you are the nutbars people wonder about.
To: Jeff Head
Yeah you know BS for sure. Write a book about taking care of your children next time, it would be fiction too. He had a responsibility to his kids and let them down. I know the government screwed him, but he knew they were coming and he armed them and stuck them out front. Real gutsy. Your buds on this thread have threatened my life. Nice crowd you run with.
To: B4Ranch
He was awarded that by a jury just like a jury just hung Scooter Libby. It happens... Screw you. You like to take the lead for truth but you have poor judgement in most things. What a joke.
