Don't feel too sorry for Knodell...he was just given "fall guy" status by Norton.
He will be a STAR, now.

We can only pray that Victoria Toesning has the nerve to call out these people for the liars they are.If you could see me now, you would know that is exactly what I am doing.

The Admin has not fought back with classified intell, which is the problem, the Dems in the CIA and on intell committees do leak classified intell to reporters routinely, and the admin has to declassify to fight back, which is really rare.

you do at least agree that it is the responsibility of those with a security clearance to ensure that the information they are sharing with reporters is not classified, right? I mean, you don't think they have to have someone else tell them what they can and can't talk about with the press, do you? Doesn't that responsibility rest with the person talking to a reporter? Is that the agreement they sign when they obtain their clearance? As someone who has been cleared for classified information at various times in my career, I can say that if the information was not properly labeled as classified when it was received, there's no reason for the person to have to verify that it is not classified.

When will Armitage testify at this hearing? Is that a rhetorical question? Since Fitzgerald is still on the case, I doubt that Armitage could/would say much and put himself into legal jeopardy. The fact that he hasn't been prosecuted speaks volumes about Plame's status.

if her status was not classified, why would they need to use classified info to fight back? why not just reveal all of the unclassified info on her status?

They want to go after Bush for saying he was going to launch an investigation but since the White House guy doesn't have any knowledge of an investigation the headline is going to be "Bush lied....Didn't conduct an investigation".
The problem is, that Justice did launch an investigation and Justice answers to the President. Something the left only remembers when they want to investigate the firings of the Federal Prosecutors.

There seems to be a flaw in the law. I think the CIA has the ultimate responsibility for keeping the name of a covert agent secret. If she was covert -- they failed.
As to classified status, the WH has the authority/right to override that, I believe. Appropriate or not? It depends.

"I can say that if the information was not properly labeled as classified when it was received, there's no reason for the person to have to verify that it is not classified."
Second that. You'd spend your entire day/week/year verifying classification status.

Or you could spend your day/week/year not talking to reporters about things you don't know that status of.
Wait, that would be too easy.

Question: Which is worse....leaking the name of a CIA "operative" or stealing and destroying documents from the National Archives?
