Just look at who the Republicans are offering up as Presidential candidates

I did and all are fine with me. Now let us look at the conservatives who are running, Ron Paul, Brownback, maybe gingrich, maybe tancredo, hunter, etc. and why are they all polling at less than 5%.

"I want an SOB, the kind who threw out Arafat and Castro and told the museum it couldn't crap on the Holy Mother.
Londonistan and Mark Steyn's America Alone and Tony Blankley's The West's Last Stand indicate this is the last island in a sea of enemies.
Rudy says we need to start dealing with Iran and Syria--he had people who jumped out of his buildings and that's his take-away: it's serious."
An excellent post! THIS is the bottom line.

No, this is only part of the picture, not the bottom line. There are battles at home to be fought, as well, and the GOP with Bush as their leader have failed miserably on this front the past several years. If we are being destroyed from within, what difference does it make that we are fighting the good fight in the WOT? If the GOP doesn't have the ability to pay closer attention to domestic policy and the burgeoning size of governement, it won't matter a whit who is elected in 2008. Frankly, a party that doesn't have the versatility or flexibility to focus on more than one issue doesn't deserve to govern. But then they haven't been called the "Stupid Party" for nothing.

The point from my perspective is that if the state replaces the family, we are doomed anyway. As the state replaces the family, all of our values melt away. When they do, we are doomed to the muslim invasion, just like Europe is now. We won't have the guts to fight this thing in 15 years if we keep electing Republicans who massively expand the size of government.

Newt didn't quit.

Here's something I never understood. Conservatives are the base, so why don't we demand the leadership of the GOP?

This has always puzzled me....

But what if Rudy wins the nomination? Would Hillorat be better on abortion? (if two candidates have the same position on an issue, wouldn`t it be logical to base your vote on another issue like the WAR or TAXES?)

I'd vote for Romney, although I don't think he's the best chose. I even like certain things about Ruddy, but we have to take him as a whole. We won 2004 based off black american religious votes in Ohio. A demographic that historical hasn't voted high for Republicans.

So we can't piss off the religious part of our party, nor any important part of conservativism. We need to equally apply most if not all the ideals forward, with the most viable candiate.

No, even though those issues and others are important to me, as soon as the republican party caves on the right to life, they cede the moral high ground. And in all probability, they will even cease to be a viable party. I really don't want that to happen, so I hope that we won't even be faced with that problem after the primaries. There are alot of folks out there who won't vote for a pro abortion candidate.

Now, how on earth did you ascertain that I am rooting for Hillary from what I said? C'mon FairOpinion; you are capable of a much better dialogue than that type of silliness.

You want to see the Republicans defeated.

Who do you think is going to defeat them, except the Democrats?

Didn't you get the memo? Anyone who is not on board with the RINO's is the real RINO.

I like your tone and your efforts to persuade, rather than insult people. But we need to come together behind someone who represents our party platform. Rudy opposes most of our traditional GOP platform that we've supported for the last thirty years.

On those same issues, they've been given to you ad infinitum, Rudy agrees with the Democrats. Not with us. He is a big city, liberal Republican. The people you disagree with here(and we are not your enemies) are not going to vote for the barely lesser of two evils this time.

I really hope Fred Thompson gets in. I want someone I can enthusiastically support.

..Republicans will cease to be a political Party.......
That`s what You really want, isn`t it? Doesn`t matter what the Rats would do, you could care less about the consequence's of destroying the only party that can beat the Democrats. Please answer a few questions. Do you think there will be less abortions with Hilloat as President? Do you think that Hillorat will appoint people like Justice Thomas and Scalia to the Supremes? Please, don`t humiliate yourself by saying that there isn`t any difference between Rudy and Hillorat on this.the pro- death crowd will back her in the election which will earn them a seat at Hillorats table.

This is the standard "Real Conservative" pitch. I'm a real conservative because Presidents should cut spending. Really? Reagan didn't cut spending; spending increased over his term. Neither did Bush I. Neither did Nixon.

So now we have GW, and are SHOCKED, SHOCKED that spending was not cut. The precedents for doind so are few and far between. This suggests that we think (a rare practice for a partisan), as to what are the dynamics that permit icnreased spending to happen. Rather than constantly moaning, critics of spending need to invest copious time and effort about how to alter the dynamics of washington and the sentiments of the people to create the conditions for cutting spending in a way that would not be suicidal for either party. Until they do that, their perpetual whine matters little to me.

It is better to lose to a Democrat, than to elect a CINO (Conservative In Name Only).

And then what?

Sounds like a self-defeating strategy to me.

On the Factor his republican presidential poll, McCain was dead last and Newt Gingrich was first. Are true Christian conservatives going to elect a man to admitting to cheating on his wife and marrying a woman 20 years his junior? I do not care but some people esp. in the Bible belt may.
