NY TIMES PLANS TUESDAY HIT ON GORE, NEWSROOM SOURCES TELL DRUDGE: 'Scientists argue that Gore's warnings are full of exaggerated claims and startling errors'... Developing..

From a Rapt Audience, a Call to Cool the Hype

"Hollywood has a thing for Al Gore and his three-alarm film on global warming, “An Inconvenient Truth,” which won an Academy Award for best documentary. So do many environmentalists, who praise him as a visionary, and many scientists, who laud him for raising public awareness of climate change.

But part of his scientific audience is uneasy. In talks, articles and blog entries that have appeared since his film and accompanying book came out last year, these scientists argue that some of Mr. Gore’s central points are exaggerated and erroneous. They are alarmed, some say, at what they call his alarmism.

“I don’t want to pick on Al Gore,” Don J. Easterbrook, an emeritus professor of geology at Western Washington University, told hundreds of experts at the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America. “But there are a lot of inaccuracies in the statements we are seeing, and we have to temper that with real data.”.."

My first thought as well, otherwise they wouldn't dare do this.

OK, I read it. It isn't a hit piece. They praise Gore over and over again in it.

Hmm. So the NY Times seems to be moving over to Hillary's camp, huh?

Getting personal, he mocked Mr. Gore’s assertion that scientists agreed on global warming except those industry had corrupted. “I’ve never been paid a nickel by an oil company,” Dr. Easterbrook told the group. “And I’m not a Republican.”

Mystery solved. They used this very important life-or-death issue to throw a political pie at Republicans.

>>Nice graphs, but limited scope. Obviously money won't grow on trees, but grant $$$ would be better spent on NEW angles of research, as opposed to a bunch of repetitive studies that duplicate the politically-correct, anthropogenic warming party line.
....
Thus, it's pure hubris to assume that anthropogenic warming is settled science. It's the same hubris that assumes we'll find a "green" source of energy other than nuclear power.

Bottom line: it would be wise for the U.S. to salvage the nuclear power industry, long BEFORE shutting down fossil-fuel plants or taxing them out of existence.<<

I hope you didn't expect to disagree with anything you just posted.

My point referencing that site was that glacial mass balance and rising sea level have been studied by reputable groups long before the wackiest Gore supporter had heard of global warming and that rising sea levels is a real issue but a slow one.

BTW, I'm an atomic physicist by education and wholeheartedly support nuclear energy for several reasons, reducing dependence on foreign oil and lower pollution together with cheaper energy. - Its win/win/win.

Is it just me, or does Edwards look like Joe Isuzu?

>>If you notice in Figure 1-6, Earth was even hotter prior to that of the last 600,000 years. The most probable next major climate change will be an ice age. There's no evidence to suggest that it will alter it's 100,000 year cycle.<<

I'd like that to be true. I hope its true. But all the major science organizations and governmental bodies that study this sort of thing are predicting more warming and/or more sea level increases. I think the best we can do is fight off things like Kyoto and push for proof of human causation.

Excellent. It's good to know that there is some objective basis for rational discussion among scientists (I am a geologist, though not in any energy-related industry).

One of the reasons why countries like China are catching up to us economically, is that they seem to have a greater scientist-to-lawyer/politician ratio amongst their decision-makers.

Ah Ha! The last puzzle piece is in place!

I couldnt figure your angle L0L.

Pebble bed reactors are a good way to go IMHO.
Not due to global warming but, because the world needs energy.
Safe sustainable energy

Pinging you to post #35, particularly the pic of Gore on the right. That look in his eyes reminds me one of your previously favorite DUmmies, Hamsters-something. LOL.

This is very explainable. they want Hilliary. They will write attack pieces on any democrap that opposes her and ALL republicans.

I've been posting here for years that the Hillary campaign would unleash the biggest propaganda effort in the history of mankind, that the MSM will do absolutely everything within its power to put her in office. The election result will be a good barometer on how much power they have left. If they have enough power remaining to throw an election, she wins. If not...
