TAMPA -- He's campaigning hard for support from Republican social conservatives, but presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Saturday he disagreed with the government's intervention in the Terri Schiavo case.

"I think it's probably best to leave these kinds of matters in the hands of the courts," Romney said in a television interview airing today.

And unfortunately, I doubt that will change in our lifetimes.

Well, it sure won't if we keep electing constitutional morons like Mitt Romney.

What are your 100% issues?

I have none.
I believe it is a voter's duty to vote against the worse candidate. This assumes a political process like the present where it typically comes down to two candidates.

If there were no polls and voters had no idea which candidates were likely to be elected, then I'd be a 100%er and believe it is a voter's duty to vote for the candidate that best represents their views, however extreme.

A "bill of attainder" is something that deprives someone of life, liberty or property.

I think someone's given you a bum steer, a "Bill of Attainder" is an act of legislature finding a person guilty of treason or felony without trial.

His own words are often quite effective in that endeavor.

It is not in the Constitution. States such as Massachusetts and Maryland both had religious -- religious sect, even -- natures to their laws and charters at the time of Constitutional ratification.

A wise procedure, whatever your or your family's position.

Personally, I wouldn't want to continue indefinitely being fed and watered like a plant, and my living will says so.

But I do understand and respect people who arrive at different positions with respect to that question.

Posting a man's (Romney in this case) own words is somehow unfair or something? What planet am I on?

The Terribots are so high on their high horses of self righteousness, they can't see what they are destroying.

"Congress had no business with the Terri Schiavo affair..."

You are right. The proper way to rectify a gross miscarraige of justice by the courts is an executive branch pardon.

Either GWB or Jeb could have weighed the facts of Terri's condition and made a decision. They had the legal, moral and force of arms authority to decide this matter. That Florida judge who issued the prior restraint order should have been removed from the bench by force. He had no jurisdiction over the Governor and Jeb was a total milksop to have obeyed the judge.

I would have trusted a decision from GWB much more than from any of the principals who were fighting this in the courts.

That's exactly what happens when you're found guilty of a felony ~ all you've done is add felony. Apparantly you don't think of treason as a felony.

Fundamentally, Congress can't just vote to make you an outlaw. That's something that only a county probate court judge can do ~ or sometimes divorce court ~ I've heard stories eh!

We need a REAL candidate. BAH!

John Edwards for President in '08! We know he'll defeat Hillary, Obama and McCain.
