Republican Rudy Giuliani is the early frontrunner in Florida, according to a poll by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. 47 per cent of respondents in the Sunshine State would support the former New York City mayor in the 2008 United States presidential election, while 42 per cent would vote for Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Giuliani also holds a 12-point lead over Illinois senator Barack Obama, and an eight-point edge over former North Carolina senator John Edwards.
The three Democratic presidential hopefuls hold the upper hand in contests against former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

If a majority of Republican voters want someone other than Rudy as the nominee, why hasn't that candidate caught fire yet?
And, oh, could you please tell me his name? Who do you think the majority will flock to like ants at a picnic?
Rudy will play very well in CA....similar to Ahnuld
For example, since Duncan Hunter is a class act, and a Republican through and through, should he lose the nomination, and Rudy wins it, he will throw his support behind Rudy. Ergo (which means "herefore", for the pedantically challenged), since those who lost the nomination will throw their support behind Rudy, he will indeed have a majority of delegates (because he won the nomination).
We have seen in past elections that Democrats tried to spin a loss as a win, but I haven't seen Repoublicans do so as yet, so my point still holds. Since we do elect folks democratically in our great country, that would mean that they are elected by a mojority of those who vote.
The "all or nothing" gang, who would be in the minority, may choose to bolt or not vote and that is their choice. However, since they would be the minority, THEY would be at fault should the party fracture.
Of course, those who do decide to hold out and not vote, or would vote for Fred Mertz of the Itchy Tochus Party would lose what little credibility they have, by allowing a Defeatocrat to take the WH, thereby placing the country in terrible jeopardy.
So, there you have it. Hope that you can follow along, Einstein.
However, Alfonse was not a household name. Everyone knows Mayor Rudy.
Anyone else hear about Giuliani selling a corporation for $75 million more than its reported worth to a banking institution? I heard it on WMAL -- apparently, it worked a lot like Hillary's cattle futures.
Isn't the election in like 20 months? I'm just checkin..making sure...lol...why oh why are we being subjected to polls like these so far out. Let me know these numbers next year at this time and we "MIGHT" have something to talk about.
Rudy should have a bigger lead over Hillary. There's no way he's tying her in the conservative North and Panhandle of Florida.
Speaking as a native Floridian, I wish most of them would go back to NYC. Well...maybe just the liberal ones. Oh wait...that would be most of them after all.
Rudy should not be tied with Hillary in Ohio. let's see what future polls show.
It's half that. It's 10 months to the Iowa Caucuses.
FO I agree with you 100%...I live in CA....the dems start their vote count with CA and a few other "safe" states for them...Rudy will change that equation...they will have to spend money out here to try and defend their turf...as our current Gov has shown a pubbie can win statewide with a majority of the GOP votes, most of the indy votes and some of the dem votes....Rudy is more than capable of doing the very same thing....
with Richardson as VP, the Dems will be able to play in western states with large Hispanic populations like NM (they win that), NV and CO.
This far out I don't know, but that don't mean squat, it still doesn't make Rudy the Winner and standard bearer for the Republican party and it doesn't make statements from Rudy supporters that those who don't support him are not facing reality and they are the minority opinion true.
Excellent point.
no it's 10 months to the Iowa Caucus and 11 months to the Feb 5 primaries in many many states....the nominee will be know by the middle of Feb or at the latest the 1st of March...
Around here, we're aghast at many of the initiatives pushed by the northeastern AFL-CIO IAFF people. For example, they want the union to push legislation preventing a paid firefighter from working as a volunteer firefighter when off duty. That would never be a popular position in Texas, as many firefighters live in small towns with volunteer departments, but work in larger cities. We also believe what we do off duty is none of the union's or the fire department's business, as long as it's legal and we're not representing ourselves as members of the department for gain. We had an issue a few years ago where a guy was a stripper off-duty, and was using the department name when performing. The department asked him to stop doing it, and he started calling himself the firefighter stripper instead. The department was cool with that.
That I agree with completely. Way tool early to make decision. I want to hear them all. Then I'll decide. I'd simply like evryone to take two steps back, put away the machetes and the scythes, and chill. Let's look at the candiates honestly and then make up our mind.
If our candidate is not nominated, imho, it is incumbent upon us, because we do love our country and recognize the dangers that we face should we have a Defeatocrat as President, to unite behind the candidate.
I take a very dim view of those who threaten to vote Turd Party or threaten to stay home. That is the political equivalent of a 4 year old having a tantrum.
