Local jurisdictions across the country, beginning in Hazleton, Pa., have decided they need to act to control crimes committed by illegal aliens in their towns. A variety of laws against illegals as tenants, against illegals as company employees, and in favor of English as the required language, have resulted. The dimensions of the problem are clear. A recent Justice Department audit (reported in The Washington Times Jan. 9) revealed more than 70 percent of illegal aliens arrested in the U.S. had previously been arrested for five or more crimes. The crime problem is compounded when you add the financial costs of additional medical care, additional education and additional police and prisons, due to illegal aliens. Everywhere local Hazleton-type laws have been proposed, or passed, the counterattack has come from the American Civil Liberties Union and its ally, the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund. They claim such laws are beyond the power of local government since immigration is solely a federal issue. They also say such laws discriminate, since most illegals are non-Caucasian and speak Spanish

This is a link to the city of Hazleton's website. They need all the help they can get. And folks should visit the city if they get the chance and spend some money. Nice place, nice people :)
Not sure what this means, but it's worth remembering that every one of us commits a 'crime' every time we drive 'with traffic' rather than at or below the posted speed limit, so I'd look at this quote a little sideways.
ARRESTED=Taken into custody. Not a "Cite and Release" traffic violation.

Thank you for the link. The "they just want to do the jobs no one else wants to" excuse is wearing thin on the people who are dealing with large numbers of ILLEGALS on a day to day basis and the problems they bring with them are not minor. They suck the taxpayers dry, kill or maime US citizens and then cry foul when they are arrested.
Mebbe so, but why'd they wall off Hazelton with a thirty-foot fenceafter cutting down all their trees? I liked Hazelton "before".
The question that came to my mind was whether this was different that the percent of Americans arrested with five prior arrests.
I spent a few months in Hazelton once. Yes it is a nice town. The whole area is nice. I'm glad that SOME people have stopped standing back, whining and waiting for the gubmint to fix the problem, since after so many years it OUGHT to be obvious that the gubmint is incapable of such a thing.
Actually, this link takes you directly to the donate page:

Mayor Lou Barletta and his city deserve our support. Anything you were going to give to the RNC...give it to Hazelton's legal fund instead.
Specter must have been having a cow...
I don't believe that a speeding violation is considered a crime. I believe that (unless certain guidelines are violated) that it's a municipal infraction, since you're NOT arrested, i.e. taken into custody. Again, there are stipulations there, such as not driving while intoxicated (a crime), or exceeding 100MPH, which WILL get you arrested in most places.
CongressmanBillyBob was talking about illegals who have been arrested for a crime.

We are all 'collateral damage' to the politicians and power brokers. They have set an acceptable loss to achieve their globalist goals and we are it.
Assuming that the efforts are worthwhile, wouldn't it be better for each of these locals jurisdictions to pass the costs of these efforts to all the community?
Instead, the costs are being pushed off on a select few.
