I felt bad for the Bush girls during the media bombardment they endured for underage drinking. I mean c'mon, what college freshman to senior doesn't engage in underage drinking?

Why would you feel sorry for them or make apologies for them?

Pretending for a moment that it was only underage drinking, they brought a lot of shame to their family.

There are plenty of us who raise our kids NOT to pull the kind of crap they did.

I understand her concern, but her criticism is a mite strong.

By the way, it sounds like a pretty mundane book.

The Whitman-Walker Clinic in DC reports that the District has a higher percentage of HIV positive adults than do 24 sub-Saharan countries. That's on a poster in the subway system.

Therefore, Jenna's book is not exactly a revelation.

I'm sure she meant well.

BTW, I didn't see Chelsea Clinton teaching in DC Schools. Which, btw, are nightmares, for the most part. Good on you for that, Jenna!

I think Debbie is not ready for prime time, unfortunately this hit piece on this young woman gives evidence of a fatal flaw in Debbie's character.

When you see this kind of purple faced anger explode at an innocent, a simple apology won't cover it up.

I think most normal people do. Well-adjusted people grow out of it.

I myself played with liberalism in my 20s and most conservatives I know today did the same.

I belonged to a group called Arms Race Concern when I was in my late teens/early 20s.

I often wonder how many folks around here would want the exploits of their twenties excessively photographed, thoroughly analyzed and commented on by folks with ulterior motives. Some could hold up under that kind of scrutiny. Most could not.

I'm over forty, live a very mundane, do the right thing best I can kind of life and there would STILL be plenty of fodder for anyone seeking to use me as an example.

I think her article was right on. You are only upset because it's a spawn of Bush she attacked. If this were Chelsea or Amy Carter, you'd be right there with her. Do you think it's a good thing to have yet another kids book about single mothers who have underage sex and kids and get AIDS? Do you think it's a good thing that this drunken airhead compares her book about a promiscuous South American to the Holocaust?

Keep in mind that the press is reporting this to put it in the worst light possible for the Whitehouse. Who knows what she actually said, or whether the reporter was the one who brought up the Anne Frank comparison and Jenna was merely responding.

The media's focus is to embarass President Bush by making his daughter look like a liberal.
