Newt: Far far better than Rudy or McCain

I'd like to see Brownback or Hunter positions also

I think any criticisms of Newt Gringrich--on this thread--can and should be kicked off by those of us Freepers who are without sin or who have never sinned.

Any takers??

Two kinds of people: those who agree God's standard is right even when they themselves fall short and those who don't.

I forgive him - we all make mistakes - goodness knows I've made plenty.

Glad to see Newt won't pander for potential votes.

Adultery, among other grievous sins, is a disqualifier for the Presidency. Public officials, particularly those aspiring to our nation's top office, must be held to a higher standard. I like Newt, but he is OUT. So too are McCain & Rudy. Republicans have become Democrats in too many foreign & domestic policy issues. They don't need to behave like them. Yes, Ronald Reagan was divorced & remarried. I wish it were not so...

Thank you for posting this. Absolutely exceptional read.

Ping to WPtG (you prophet you) who told me last month that when Newt's personal baggage came up during this election cycle (even if he didn't run), that Newt would undoubtably deal with it head on, and in a way previously unmatched by any other public figure who ever answered for their past.

I wonder how many of those who don't like Newt' past will read this and accept it?

There are many things for which I've also sought, and received, forgiveness.

We also reap what we sow.

That applies to Newt as well as Rudy.

Thanks for the post, a most interesting read. This subject has been in the back of my mind for eons, i.e. the what and or how of Newt's spiritual journey and how it related to the unanswered question of past behavior. Refreshing candor from a politician to say the least, even if he doesn't run, he is modeling behavior for future candidates to emulate.

After hearing Pat Robinson on Glenn Beck tonight, I get a sense that both he and Dr. Dobson may be in his corner. This race is FAR from over.....

I LOVE NEWT! Back in 1994 - 1996, I kept a scrapbook of all NEWT stuff. Unfortunately, I think I threw it away when I was cleaning out the garage a few months ago - or, I might have stored it, can't remember which. I got to see him in person at at train stop in Glendale, CA in August 1996 - the "victory express." James Rogan, George Schultz and Jeanne Kirkpatrick were there too. I took LOTS of pictures (I ought to scan some and post them to my about page) See my about page and there's a picture of me and Jack Kemp taken at the Burlingame Convention (California0 back in January 1996... that was little 22 year old me. Well, I wasn't exactly little. Anyway, it was an exciting day with Newt there at the train stop, such excitement in the air. I'd vote for Newt in a heartbeat.

Thank you so much for posting this. Something had been holding me back when it came to Newt (if he ran for president) and I think that this addresses a lot of what I was concerned about.
