It seems to me that Roy Blunt needs to pay attention to the news...there ARE good stories coming out of Iraq...and indications that this new tactic is having a positive effect.

Both sides in Congress have decided Iraq is a losing issue for them either way in 2008. Therefore, they will make sure in 2007 that it will not be an issue in 2008.

No, it will just guarantee that Iran WILL be the issue in 2008. They won't have a choice in the matter.

The DIMS also want to redeploy to the "RIGHTEOUS" war in Afghanistan, that is of course until the terrorists start blowing themselves up in market squares on a daily basis, their is a hundred-fold increase in the use of IED's, shoulder fired missiles start bringing down our helocopters and assasination squads start killing their politicians!!

The Democrats are TOUGH TALKERS until the going gets tough then they will want to redeploy to New York.

It won't get past the Senate, and Pelosi/Murtha know it. This is just leftist BS to throw a (bare) bone to the moonbats and MoveOn.organists.

I think that Roy Blunt his hedging his own popularity at home. Mo has gone quite democratic as of late.

The Democratic plan, said House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey, will bring an "orderly and responsible close" to American participation in Iraq's "civil war."

The proposal would require the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops by the fall of next year, officials had said Wednesday night.

Most Iraqis, especially those of the jihadist persasion, have a very limited understanding of our political system. They'll read a lot more into this then we do. I know for a fact that the higher up the chain you go, the more comfort the terrorists find in this. I've seen some of them explain the situation in very basic but very accurate terms. They know that they can't beat us, but that they can wait us out.

To the jihadis, this sort of announcement is like a lost ship spotting land on the horizon.

I think that's what British and French politicians thought about Germany in 1938.

Another spineless, gutless, so-called "Republican."

IMO the best answer is to accuse him of doing everything possible to get many more people killed.

These people have been flailing for how long now? Three months and counting?

I really hope they do something that will make it clear to Joe Blow Public what they're doing. I don't think the ladies at the beauty shop are really fully aware how the Dems want us to lose the war.

Sure, we know it. The Dems are doing their best to dance around their Moonbat donors and the American public that has no desire at all to LOSE this war.

Hey, we play football and have the World Series here. We understand WINNING!

Meanwhile the Dems insist that we lose. Hey, let them show the world where they're coming from.

Again the democrat's plan has no teeth in it to end military action in Iraq. It permits the President to continue operations unabated with waivers included in the democrat legislation proposed. It does not defund the war effort in Iraq. It is smoke and mirrors and nothing more.

This tactic by the democrats will come back to bite them in the behind big time, since any attempt to undermine the objectives of commanders on the ground in Iraq will ensure certain failure. When and if that occurs the democrats will "own" the war in Iraq, and given their past history will not be able to extract themselves from a situation in which the country, and perhaps the entire region, will turn into a cesspool loaded with terrorists of every stripe determined to dominate the Middle East and beyond.

We are doomed. The nation is in the hands of morons and traitors.

Well yes, but those on this site who wanted to send a message by not voting republican last year can now congratulate themselves. Message has been received (by Al Quaida).

I hope they decide to leave at least 20,000 troops so we can go back to enforcing the no-fly zones and UN economic sanctions and occasionally hitting them with bombs and missiles like we did during the entire eight years of Clinton's Presidency.

The President can move funds for the war from anywhere he wants in the budget.

He said the measure would provide $1.7 billion more than the Bush administration requested for troop health care.

Obviously because "they support the troops".

Or, at least, can appear to.
