WASHINGTON, March 3 Three of the leading Republican presidential candidates on Saturday denounced one of their partys best-known conservative commentators for using an antigay epithet when discussing a Democratic presidential contender at a gathering of conservatives here.
The remarks by Ann Coulter, an author who regularly speaks at conservative events, were sharply denounced by the candidates, Senator John McCain of Arizona, Rudolph W. Giuliani of New York and Mitt Romney of Massachusetts. Their statements came after Democrats, gay rights groups and bloggers raised a storm of protest over the remarks.
Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference before an overflow crowd on Friday, Ms. Coulter said, I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word faggot, so I so kind of an impasse, cant really talk about Edwards.
Mr. Edwardss aides responded with an e-mail message that attacked Ms. Coulter and urged supporters to donate to Mr. Edwardss campaign. John was singled out for a personal attack because the Republican establishment knows he poses the greatest threat to their power, said his campaign manager, David E. Bonior. Since they have nothing real to use against him, Coulters resorting to the classic right-wing strategy of riling up hate to smear a progressive champion.
Ms. Coulter, asked for a reaction to the Republican criticism, said in an e-mail message: Cmon, it was a joke. I would never insult gays by suggesting that they are like John Edwards. That would be mean.

"Republicans should have no part of this campaign against Ann."
But there is a difference between Ann, Rush, and Lott. Lott and Rush have their conservative streak, but they have bent with the wind too often. Ann has been and remains a dyed-in-the-wool conservative, and proves it by calling a spade a spade. Those who backed Rush and Lott were doing so on the basis of defending GOP power. Those who back Ann are doing so on the principle that we ought to be able to call offensively immoral exactly what it is--offensive and immoral--no matter what the PC crowd thinks. Her derisive wording has nothing to do with her excoriation by the 'right' here.
What about the Lib Maher?
"The Iraq war not going well is why the Dems won last November."
Well, maybe a little bit has to do with people like you watching ABC,CNN,CBS telling us that the war in Iraq is not going well.
"Evidently some conservatives would rather be flaming knee-jerking hypocrites, tarnish the conservative message with their shrill, childish namecalling & lose elections just so they can poke fun at "homos", "wetbacks" & "ragheads" like a pack of crass, adolescent hyenas."
Sorry, but there are many of us that will not give in to the political correctness that liberals are trying to impose on us. (just another 64 year old crass, adolescent hyena) :)
You're right about that. Coulter should have kept her mouth shut this time, but the MSM's double standard becomes more flagrant every election cycle.
Unless, of course, the faggots in question were Democrats. Right, Ann?
'playing the dozens'
You want to play the dozens
Well the dozens is a game
But the way I ___ yo mutha

Ann Coulter Is Da Bomb
I don't want to write this piece. I really, really don't want to defend Ann Coulter. Especially since she really doesn't need it (she probably doesn't mind the latest round of outrage in the least). But since I don't really see anyone else saying what I'm about to say, I probably should say it.
Ann Coulter has her place in modern-day politics. She's a bomb-thrower. Bomb-throwers are the people on one extreme or another who lob their verbal grenades at the other side, pointing out what they see as the flaws, the hypocrisies, the lies, and the outright wrongness of the opposition.
The bomb-throwers are important, but also potentially dangerous. Sometimes their bombs don't quite reach the intended target, and instead they blow up early -- usually taking out those who choose to stand near them. Only rarely does a bomb-thrower take themselves out -- but when they do, it's spectacular to watch.
So, how does one handle the bomb-throwers? the rest can be found here. i think kevin's comments are accurate

The collapse of the conservative movement has been amusing to watch. It looked like an unstoppable force, and its rapid implosion has revealed it to be a mere hiccup. The amount of self-delusion on this board is unreal. A few short years ago we were making fun of the DUmmies for the sort of posts I see on here.
Message boards like this, especially political ones, go a long way in showing that people believe what they want to be true.
Either people don't get it, or they pretend they don't. The rhetorical method she used to insult John Edwards without insulting him directly is plain as day.
What will you do when the "true conservatives" in the Presidential race don't cheer on Coulter's petty ad hominem attacks? One of the posters here was dead on... maybe you guys ought to call Obama a n***** next and see how far it gets you. You can always say you were "just joking" afterwards.
My version of Andrew Dice Clay since yours was rather weak...IMO of course.
Dream on.
They are not criticizing her.
But you are.
I think I have stuck up for Ann all day. Are you posting to me? Go back through my posts and see if I am criticising Ann. I am confused.
RE: My Post 47
Wow! You Freepers did very well on YouTube! I've been up since 10pm saturday night battling the liberals within 2 Ann Coulter comment boards under the video and the video response. I saw the flood of conservatives and man the liberals were so much without facts that THEY resorted to the meanest and most dirty talk and slur words against Ann Coulter that it actually overshodowed what Ann had even said. Man, they're nasty and I did see democrats get sick of other fellow democrats. The young guy who posted a response against Ann Coulter and in favor of Edwards... well, he finally came out and said he's voting Green in 2008 because there's nobody in the democratt party anygood to vote for.
So, we may not have won him to our side but atleast we got him away from the dems.
Im sleepy. Early night for me.
Rush will be good tomorrow.
YouTube... there are voters to be had there. I would LOVE it if MySpace bought out Google... Fox would own the world. hehe
Rush will be good tomorrow
["Do you guys honestly think...any other 'right' candidate for President is going to cheer on Ann Coulter for calling a presidential candidate a 'faggot'"]
No, and they'd be fools to endorse it. But Ann's not a politician, or employed by any of them. They don't have to pay it any attention, and I wouldn't hold it against any of them for decrying it.
["If Ann were a man, wouldn't Edwards have every right to knock his teeth down his throat for that comment?"]
If Edwards were a man, he might try.
["Leave the childish Michael Moore bullsh*t to their side, please?"]
No, instead I'll cheer Ann onward, with every barb she throws, and hope she scores a hit someday, when some angry lib finally has a stroke over one of her comments.
BTTT
Not only that......COWARDS all!
Well said. Definitely deserves to be repeated. ;-D
