FreeRepublic Policy Statement
FrreRepublic ^ | Unknown | Jim Robinson

Posted on 03/03/2007 5:38:03 PM PST by ZULU

"Therefore, we wholeheartedly support the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive strikes on known terrorist states and organizations that are believed to present a clear threat to our freedom or national security. We support our military, our troops and our Commander-in-Chief and we oppose turning control of our government back over to the liberals and socialists who favor appeasement, weakness, and subserviency. We do not believe in surrendering to the terrorists as France, Germany, Russia and Spain have done and as Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton and the Democrats, et al, are proposing.

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty. "

Rudy, a guy that has helped so many Conservative candidates in the last election.

He sure did. Campaigned, stumped, made speeches with, photo-ops with all sorts of candidates. Did any of them win their races?

Good evening.
"But evidently, 11 out of 13 isn't good enough."

It's more a case of him playing lip service to the Constitution and being selective as to how to interpret the rest.

NO, LOTS of people here support him, and I'm on a ((((PING)))) list too.

15% is LOTS of people? Let me clue you in, a lot of NOISE from the same handful of people doesn't mean a lot of people. And as far as a ping list goes, there are more people here interested in where a dead, drug addicted stripper is getting buried than want Rooty Julieannie elected president.

"Same thing could be asked about Bush on about half the issues listed."

Regardless, PRESIDENT Bush, (not Bush) is just that, President of the United States. Rudy is a candidate in the Primaries. Quite a difference!

Most conservatives find it insulting and disrespectful to speak of or address our President by his last name. Just a friendly note, not an attack.

I just fully made up my mind today to support Rudy, because of this website, I'm tired of seeing all the negativity towards him. I don't think he deserves it.

Pro-gun control, pro-abortion, pro-big govt, pro-amnesty and pro-gay, weirdo liberal politicians like Rudy get TWO kinds of negativity:

1. Earned,

and

2. Deserved.

While I do not agree with him on most subjects, like that other former New York Mayor, he gets who the external enemy is.

And you don't think the other Republican candidates "get" who the external enemy is? All the evidence I've seen persuades me that their vision is just as clear as Rudy's on the matter.

I think this is quite an old statement and I see the poster is not Jimrob, but Zulu, who is reposting now for his/her own reasons.

Uh. I didn't ask about bogus polls taken EARLY in the election cycle about a candidate whose history and philosophies have been relatively little known.

It seems that here on FR, every poll is bogus...as long as it doesn't say what the poster wants it to say. Given that however, I can easily recognize that his early lead will certainly give way to other realistic candidates as the months go by, since history shows that most early leaders tend to falter. It's a long time until the California primary in February, but he seems right now to be collecting money like no other can.

As for where he stands on the conservative and social issues, I also want to know how he will protect the Constitution and BOR. But if you are looking for him, or any other candidate for that matter to denounce atheists, homosexuals, women's rights activists, you've got a long wait. Nor do I care what the hell he thinks about abortion, since it will ultimately be resolved in the courts, and hopefully sent back to the states where it belongs. I don't care a whit about stem cell research issues, creationism, prayer in schools, constitutional amendments to take powers away from the states, the Ten Commandments, or any of the other major concerns of the social right.

As for what he would be elected to do, I would be concerned with how far he would go with gun control, though all of the candidates likely have some reasonable restrictions they would approve of; I would want to know how he will further improve the security of this Nation, continue with the war on terror, his policies on taxes and tax reform, his plans for immigration reform, social security reform, energy independence, control of the federal budget including deficit elimination, trade policies, elimination or reduction of federal programs that cannot substantiate their value, and/or should be sent back to the states.

As for the statement of policy of Free Republic, you will find few here who support every piece of that. It's a good discussion area, but I have my own value system, and do not need any website telling me how to judge the candidate I plan to vote for. Hope that helps.

Hi CindyDawg, I found Free Republic when Drudge still had the link on his site. When I discovered Drudge, I started checking out every link. This was by far the best.

Did you decide to support him because of FR or not?

Free Republic helped me make up my mind,I was leaning towards Rudy, but the negative comments against Rudy upset me and made my decision easier, kind of like when liberals would make fun of Bush, I would get mad, I feel the same way about Rudy.

Looks to me like there's plenty of time to make sure that's not the choice good Conservatives are forced to make,

But, there is a feeling in the air that this thing is going to be decided before the primaries are even held. At least for the Republicans.

Quite a few of us recoil at having Giuliani shoved down our throats. The predicament is that we have not yet seen a viable challenger. But, that will change.

I think the Fred Thompson rumor is a trial balloon, indicating that there IS concern among the party power that RG won't have enough to win w/o the SoCons.

Fred brings a slight rightward shift and an attractive high profile / gravitas. Interesting.

Well, let's give it our best effort. Heavy lifting, maybe. But we have military out there doing things that are much harder than trying to push things in the right direction politically. They are my motivation.

In the past, these things were probably somewhat funny to me. But now, being older, I view men dressing as women with genuine disgust. I realize that in the movies, the males do it as a part of the job. Nevertheless, I won't watch. Beyond the movies, I an genuinely suspicious of guys who want to dress as women. And that includes Giuliani.
